About this listen
December 2024. As the world elite moves closer to complete domination, war is being waged on both sides of Earth. Two paths from separate worlds move inevitably closer as ancient secrets are revealed that will change the paradigm of human history. On one side, a man fights for the survival of his family and community while a woman strives to lead her civilization to what can only be total victory over impossible odds. The Modern Digital Age meets the mythology of old as the known world becomes bigger and darker than anyone could possibly imagine.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Excellent
I wasn't sure about it before I bought it. A friend recommended the book to me. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I absolutely loved this book! First, as a Texan I am bit biased. I am familiar with all of the geography referenced in the story which made the mental picture much more vivid. In addition to the geography, I loved the way he conveyed the true nature of what I feel like we are as Texans. We are patriots, christians and family oriented, I realize it's not just a 'Texan' thing but that part of the dialogue rang true to me. Nathan Daniels narration was a big part of that. He did an excellent job. Without giving too much of the story away, I did wonder about the parallels between the present day timeline and the greek mythology. However, when it comes together, it hits hard! I loved that twist. Overall, it was an absolute thrill ride! I have not enjoyed a book this much since Lone Survivor. I listened to it on my long commutes to work and at times found myself parked in the driveway finishing a chapter because I simply could not leave it. I cannot wait for the second book, I think the author may have introduced us to another timeless character along the likes of Mitch Rapp or a Jack Ryan.

Solid tactical thriller w/ elements of mythology
I thoroughly enjoyed this title, the author knows how to set hooks to keep the listener interested, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. The plot was easy to follow and I was invested in all the characters.
The author mixes a unit of former military trying to survive against a larger force with elements of various mythologies (mostly Greek) in storytelling - 2 of my favorite genres, but it may not be for everyone.
Some of the dialogue seemed unrealistic because people don't really talk that way but it was negligible.
The stakes were high and there were logical/realistic conclusions given the characters motivations and actions.
I can't wait for the next one!

A decent story
The story has an interesting and unique premise.
The characters are pretty basic. I dont know if the altruistic nature of the characters is realistic but the story line makes up for a lot

Not worth a listen
Note: I received this book for free from the author through a post on Reddit.
There were aspects of the story that were almost good. The background stuff that was only hinted at should have been the focus of this story (it took way too long to look at a flash drive). Too much of the book focused on the local conflict despite the story not actually residing there. It would have been much improved with the background elements being the forefront. Get to the nova Roma conflict sooner. Give Jack something to actually do.
Jack is also made out to be this awesome military interrogator. I guess we only know cuz he told us. He never actually interrogated anybody in the book. His overall character development lacked as well. He was the same person from the beginning to the end. Events never truly affected him.
The dialogue between characters was the worst part of this book. Characters talked in the most stiff way. It seems that the author forgot that people talk informally and use contractions. I couldn’t get over how contractions just seemed to be nonexistent.
The narrators accent fit the setting well and he did a pretty good job overall. I would like to see a bit more range for character dialogue though.

Conspiracy theory brain rot
You know the stereotypical pepper conspiracy theorist who denied COVID existed, but also said it was an elaborate bio weapon, who claimed that the government is going to lock everyone up and has another conspiracy every week? This book is their wet dream. It has all the catch phrases coming together to falsely imprison the patriots as traitors, etc etc etc in order to implement the New World Order. All it was missing was mentioning Jews and Hitler to win Alt-Reich Bingo.
DNF
This book was free to review and still cost too much.
But I have no complaints on the narration.
