Publisher's summary
Ashur Yonan is going nowhere fast: an eighteen-year-old college dropout living with a mom who doesn’t understand him, mourning the death of his father five years earlier and working a dead-end food service job. The only good thing he has going for him is his girlfriend Kiki, but she’s leaving soon for college on the East Coast. It’s getting harder for Ashur to believe he still has the potential to make something great out of his life.
But after meeting with a mysterious stranger at his father’s gravesite, strange things begin to happen. A representative from a shadowy organization known as the Academy comes to Ashur with an offer to join their latest recruiting class.
Wary, but out of options, Ashur accepts—and enters a world of incredible new technology, cutthroat competition, and secrets that slowly begin to reveal themselves as he navigates his place at the Academy.
As Ashur pushes to learn more about the Academy, he also begins to uncover secrets about his own past, including a family history that traces back to the fall of the Shah during the Iranian Revolution, and a host of strange circumstances surrounding his father’s death. Will he be able to learn the truth in time to save himself … and the world?

Do you remember when the average annual return of a ninety-day CD at a bank in October of 1981 was 16.6%? How about the fact that the S&P 500 experienced a minimum annual rate of return of 21% in five consecutive years from 1995 to 1999? And let's not forget how real estate had a record breaking decade in the 2000's with an annual rate of return of 9.27%. Do you ever wonder what the next boom will be? Only weeks ago, former Navy SEAL Jedidiah Johnson, head of Joshua Bravo team at the Shepherds, helped to defeat Victor, the leader of the devil’s Dark Ones. Now, his boss, Ben Morvant, has tasked him with an even harder mission: take a vacation. But before Jed has even hit the beach in the Dominican Republic, he comes face to face with a new evil: orphans are being abducted right off the streets of Santo Domingo. Are these disappearances just an unfortunate crime in an unfamiliar country, or do they hint at something bigger—a new threat emerging out of the power vacuum Victor left behind?

Story
No one wants to be sent to Academie Metamorphose, the magical academy for delinquents. No one but me. I've purposely gotten kicked out of three prestigious academies. It's taken two and a half years. Finally, I'm about to get put into their reform program. And I'm thrilled. I'm excited because this academy is the perfect recruiting ground for what I need: a force, a detonator, and a tock with loose morals and an affinity for breaking the rules. I need a powerful, heartless crew because I'm about to pull off the magical heist of the century.
