About this listen

It’s the perfect romance: it’s just a shame it’s not real.

Meet the anti-hero.

Every small town needs a villain: and Lexie Steele is Heather Bay’s. Which is why she decides to move to L.A., to start over. Then a chance encounter with renowned actor Jett Carter gives her the chance to do just that, in the most unexpected way.

He needs a fake girlfriend.

She needs to show everyone back home that she’s made a success of her life in spite of her past mistakes.

They could almost have been made for each other; but romances made in Hollywood aren’t built to survive the realities of the Scottish Highlands — or are they?

Saving the passed out actor

This is the book 1 of The Actress Duet and a standalone story. It is a laugh out loud comedy, romance with a happy ending. It is told from a single point of view, and I love the character, Lexia. One single good deed leads to the experience of a lifetime. This is the first book I have listened to by this author, and I cannot wait to see what other books she has written.

pretty privilege thrown on it's head

Lexie is the pretty girl in tiny Heather Bay but she feels pretty average in Hollywood where everyone is beautiful. She's left Scotland to escape her mother and scandal but she finds herself in the spotlight after trying to do a good deed and accidentally spending the night at actor Jett Carter's house. Flaws and all, you can't help but root for Lexie as she tries to navigate her new found fame and the trolls that come with it. This book is really funny with its broken heroine and quirky characters. And it only gets better once they get to Scotland and characters get quirkier. The voice chosen for the audiobook was spot on. I couldn't stop listening as Lexie's life spins further and further out of control.

loved it

I really enjoyed the story. Lexie Steele ends up in a Fake relationship with her crush actor Jett Carter. While they are putting on a "show" for the paparazzi they both develop real feelings for each other, but both are oblivious to it. I really enjoyed Lexie's Scottish accent throughout the story and the clear distinction between the characters.

Excellent narrative to a fun story

This was a fun book to listen to. I was drawn into the story and the narrator did an excellent job of bringing “life” to all of the characters. The overall story of Lexi and Jett brought two people who had grown up with trust issues into a relationship of learning to not only trust but to also forgive.

I love me some Scottish Accents!

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...

Angela Cleland does a phenomenal job voicing Lexie and Jett, and really brings their story to life!

Poor Lexie! lol... She's having a REALLY rough go of things in her life lately! And then things just get more and more complicated with Jett as well. I couldn't believe her mother's antics! And I REALLY didn't like Scarlett Scott for most of the book!

So many funny dialogues and antics throughout the book, and the various side characters really added a lot to the story as well.

The scenes in Scotland were hilarious! And had me laughing out loud while listening.

And I absolutely adored the ending! I'm excited to see more of this world...

Loved It!

I love fake relationship stories and this one delivers! Hollywood heartthrob Jett Carter and bar waitress Lexie Steele are thrown together after the media mistakes Lexie for Jett's latest fling and Jett's team decides making their relationship 'real' could improve his image. The two start out as a reluctant duet making the requisite public appearances together, but as they get to know each other and their fake relationship takes them both to Lexie's hometown in the Scottish highlands, the lines between them begin to blur.

The story has all the ups and downs I have come to expect in the best rom coms and some pretty hilarious situations that had me loving every minute of it.

Fake dating

The story was cute, and I laughed out loud so many times. I loved that it
had a Scottish background and the audiobook had an accent. Lexie runs to the states after her entire town hates her and her mother. She ends up working as a bartender one night two men come into the bar and get drinks, and one gets a little too drunk. Lexie later finds him passed out she helps him home later to come out he is the famous actor Jett carter. Jett is trying to get the role in Macbeth, and everyone thinks it would be a good idea for him to keep a girlfriend, so they hatch the plan for Lexie to be his fake girlfriend. Things come to light and Lexie has to return home to heather bay because her mom announced she was sick to the press.

A feel good listen

I'm new to Amber Eve's books, but I'll be reading more of her work now that I've found her. Lighthearted, amusing, and satisfyingly feel-good, The Accidental Actress deftly handles the kind of deep-seated self doubt that most women have, balancing that with an entertaining romance and the subplot of a narcissistic mother (something I know far too much about myself.) The only reason the book isn't a five-star read for me is that I prefer books with more of a sense of place, more sensory detail, and I was slightly distracted by the large number of "obviously"s in the book. But overall, it was an enjoyable story, and the narration is great!

The Accidental Actress!

This is a fun romantic comedy about Amber and Jett. They fake it until becomes more. Oh let the fun and crazy begin. This is a cute contemporary romance with some drama, crazy, hilariously and ridiculous. I enjoyed the story and the characters.
