About this listen

Attorney Sabre Brown advocates for children every day in court, but when her young neighbor says she’s terrified because she overhead her parents talking about murder, Sabre has no idea how to help her. As a favor to an old friend, she also agrees to defend a teenage boy accused of killing his stepmother. When she discovers her client was having an affair with the victim, Sabre begins to think he’s guilty. Or is he being framed by his own dad?

With the help of her investigator, JP, and his hacker associate, Lana, they uncover a web of dark secrets and hidden motives, and they realize that events of the past are resurfacing to endanger people in the present. Racing against time, Sabre and her team must put together the pieces of this deadly puzzle before it's too late. Can they unearth the crucial link needed to save both children?

Great Series!

I have listened to all 15 books in this series and I think this one is my absolute favorite. I love the characters and the storylines are so interesting, although so heartbreaking at times. The author does a great job of letting the reader in to the juvenile justice system. The narrator is excellent also. Highly recommend.

Once More

Teresa Burrell does it again! This book involves two children at risk and the murder that connects them. While you assume there is some connection, nothing is obvious. Sabre Brown, along with JP and two intrepid grade schoolers uncover the generations-long mysteries that result in a positive ending for all.

Another excellent novel

I enjoyed how the series has evolved. Not just the storylines of the characters but the different style of stories as well. In this novel, Sabre faces a dilemma of how she can help a child as a lay person rather than in her role as advocate. Of course, there is an exciting mystery and criminal case as well! It had a lot of unexpected twists and an interesting ending. John Bell did an amazing job narrating. Definitely recommend this book!

I received a copy of this audiobook for free and chose to leave a review because I loved it (I purchased the ebook as well!)
