About this listen

Think you know about dinosaurs? Think again! New York Times best-selling and award-winning author Steve Brusatte brings young scientists and listeners everywhere into his world of massive herbivores and fearsome predators, daily unexpected discoveries, and all the new science used to learn about some of the world’s oldest beings.

Even though the dinosaurs roamed the earth millions of years ago, we’re still piecing together new information about these ancient animals.

Did you know that, on average, a new species of dinosaur is discovered every single week? Or that many dinosaurs had feathers? Or that there are even modern-day dinosaurs walking around right now?

New York Times best-selling author and acclaimed paleontologist Steve Brusatte writes about all the new discoveries he and his colleagues have made that help us better understand - and marvel at - these remarkable reptiles.

A strong choice for the classroom and for independent reading, and a great source for reports using information direct from an expert in the field.

Perfect for what I want.

I listen to Audiobooks during the night: to learn and to sleep. I learned lots from it and I fall back asleep easily. For a simple dude like me, it’s exactly what I want. Now, to learn more re: Terrehonia, and find more books by the narrator.

Interesting but not earth-shattering

This was an interesting overview of some key points on dinosaurs. However, there wasn't a lot new and it was very selective in its scope, with a lot of focus on people he knew or places he'd gone.

At times the explanations seemed a bit juvenile or like he was talking to a young audience.

Also, his explanations brought up a thought that I'd always had about paleontologists -- whether they always erred on the side of calling something a new species so they could name it.

In the narration, it was a bit annoying that every measurement was said in feet and then meters. That might be fine in print (where your eyes can just focus on the measurements meaningful to you), but is frustrating in audio.

Starter book out of this author's books

More of an overview, more juvenile than his Rise And Fall book. The narrator is definitely reading for kids, using the cutest tone of voice that I hated even as a kid.

Sweet and Condensed Dinosaur Book

Steve Brusatte does not miss. His ability to explain science in a way that is accessible yet not dumbed down is amazing. He has taken a lot of information and condensed it into a short yet action packed book. A lot of information in this book is similar to his more popular book, “The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs,” so if you’ve already read that you may find this a tad redundant, but if you just love learning or relearning things about Dinos like me than you should 100% give this a read.

Decent reading minutes some annoying quirks

Disliked the character foreign accents that was your stereotypical racial caricature. Annoying, bordered on offensive.

Enjoyable Book. Narration was rough at first.

I enjoyed the story, the narrator was anissue early on until I sped up the speech. Narrator talked so slow until I did that I wasn't sure I could keep going. Sounded like he was talking to a group of First graders it was so slow and deliberate.

Don't let my complaint stop you from listening g. you just might want to speed up the narration.
