Publisher's summary

Amish widower Abram is devastated after losing his wife and son. Wracked with sorrow and guilt, he moves to Indiana, working 16-hour days to keep from focusing on his pain and grief.

When he places a help wanted sign in his shop window, pretty Dawn Hartzler applies. While both have a growing attraction for one another, neither is ready to move on from their pasts. As Abram and Dawn grow closer, her ex-boyfriend, Daniel, comes back into her life, and Dawn believes they will reconcile.

A devastated Abram knows he should never have opened his heart again. But when Daniel divulges a terrible secret to Dawn, Abram feels he just may have a chance with Dawn. But can her heart heal from Daniel's betrayal and open to Abram?

Very religion heavy

After finishing the delightful Amish Free Spirit I decided I'd check out the 2nd book in Katie Lantz's "Amish Romance" series. What a drastic change in tone. Unrelated completely to the first other than by subject matter, this one was a bit depressing right out the gate but it did quickly lead to stuff similar to what I liked about the first. That is, until the complication of Daniel returning home. I get the love triangle element he was brought in to add but I was not a fan of the direction the story went after his introduction. Also, while there were religious elements in the first one they had been turned up to eleven for this one, including direct scripture passages. (I know nothing about the Amish religion but what I assumed was "god" got pronounced like "goat" or "got" or maybe "gothe".) I've got 3 more books from this series in my library, hopefully they're more like Amish Free Spirit than this one.
