An inspiring piece to all those that want to make a difference!
This book highlights the value and importance of how someone can have a lasting positive impact on others. It’s a must-read for anyone wanting to go into the education sector! Nancy provides inspiring insight into her journey and conscious decision to understand each student’s unique background. She highlights the point of meeting people where they are to have an equally engaging conversation of what is possible with determination and passion. I have no doubt on the number of students and many others that will forever be thankful for having a conversation with her.

How to be a School Counselor in an Age of Change
There is a sense of concern, even urgency, for the guidance counselor and the student of today in “The Art of Being a School Counselor —Leading with Confidence, Compassion and Authenticity.” Nancy L. Regas, a retired school counselor and author of this book, offers help to a profession that is overloaded and challenged by the pandemic and a world thrusted in change.
Throughout the book, she shares her passion for guidance counseling and for high school students who normally face challenges, but even more so today. The key to becoming an effective and successful school counselor is to be compassionate and caring with your students. Regas shows in 11 readable (or easy listening) chapters how school counselors can retain their passion for reaching out to students and their parents, while successfully helping students to achieve their scholastic and life goals.
For anyone who works with high school students, from guidance counselors to teachers, to school administrators, and even to parents, this book is a must read.
