awesome. This should be taught in schools.

Such valuable teachings about just being a human and relationships. I wish I knew this years ago . Very important , should be taught in school and in all prisons.

more silence

I never thought I would be saying this but there was a lot of music on this book and it would have fostered more presence without it

Audio not an issue for me...

Yes, the audio sounds like it was recorded in a room full of people. But that's what you're agreeing to listen to, by way of the description of this offering. I could hear him speaking just fine, and the background noise is minimal, when heard at all.

While I found 'The Power of Now" to be influential and informative, the benefit of this offering is to hear the concepts discussed in a more conversational (and humorous) way. I thought of it as a "refresher course" of sorts.

Wonderful listen!

Eckardt Tolle’s way of guiding you to presence, to the feeling of being, is so simple and easy. This has profoundly effected my meditation, business decisions, how I work with my staff, approach business ‘problems’, my health, my relationships with parents, siblings, wife and kids and friendships too.

A gorgeous way to become less mind driven and more conscious, and melt away even a little of the ‘me’ vs ‘not-me’ kind of perspective that isolates and creates suffering.

Highly recommend!

A Mature Piece

This is a good lecture to listen to after reading "The Power of Now." I've looked through Tolle's other books and most seem to be a rehashing of "The Power of Now," a sort of commercialized industry. A few are good though. The "Art of Presence" is one such good audio to listen to on my Ipod when walking or doing other things.

The unique thing about the lecture is that Tolle can direct you to pause in order to reflect or delve into a subject at the appropriate moment. This is further enhanced by the question and answer period, where I can pause after each exchange or let each question and answer section flow into the other.

I've read in other reviews that some people are turned off by his strange laugh, which it is. But if you are turned off by his laugh, then you have missed his message because you are tuned into your ego. His laugh is in fact the aspect one could focus on because it relates to a variety of concepts he explicates--or doesn't explicate if you understand his way of informing. I don't think he even knows how his laugh is a key to his work.

I think an important point to keep in mind is that one shouldn't give up on the message simply because one doesn't like the messenger. I would also not recommend that one become a Tolle-freak disciple. Listen, learn, and adapt your take on his concepts.

Art of Presence

This is a book for repeated listening because it unfolds a process that is natural yet elusive. It is special as it is Eckhardt Tolle himself reading his work which makes it more of a dialogue and a conversation with a teacher with a deep understanding, empathy snd humor.

Overall a helpful book for being Present

I liked many examples and explanations from Eckhart here. I think this is a great tool for helping me become present. I'm not sure yet how much it will help to stay present, as I have not practiced much during/after reading his book. I'm just not ready to commit yet, I dont believe the book content is de-motivating me. there were some times when Eckharts laughing was a little too much, but that was only toward the end once or twice. I believe the information and his way of presenting is extremely valuable for any one who needs help letting go in general, and not putting so much pressure on themselves.
