About this listen
When the body of a local woman is discovered by the lake, the small town of Aldercreek is thrown into chaos. This tight-knit community of successful families and well-kept secrets is suddenly confronted with a dark mystery. Just as the dust begins to settle, a newcomer arrives: Eden, an outsider with quiet intensity and a hidden agenda. She knows more than she lets on, and as she digs into the town’s history, old wounds and dark secrets begin to resurface.
Beneath Aldercreek’s polished surface, Eden stirs suspicions, revealing a web of manipulation and mind games among its seemingly perfect residents. Long-buried family secrets and rivalries come to light, threatening to unravel the lives of those involved. Tension mounts as Eden’s search uncovers connections to the dead woman that no one wants exposed. Suspicion shifts from one familiar face to another, while Eden’s own motives remain a mystery, adding layers to an already suspenseful puzzle.
In this gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller, nothing—and no one—is as they seem. As Eden’s investigation digs deeper, the stakes grow higher, forcing the residents to confront the twisted truth hiding in plain sight. This thriller is filled with dark secrets, mystery, and suspense, promising to keep readers hooked until the final reveal.

Gary and I have always been happy. Our fridge is covered in the love notes I leave him every morning, we always start the day on the doorstep with a goodbye kiss, and I make sure we never, ever fight. But since Gary’s sister Lisa moved in, things have been different… The day Lisa arrived at the school where I work, asking for help, I knew we had to welcome her into our home. Gary hasn’t spoken to his parents in years, and his childhood was far from perfect. But now every time Lisa enters a room, I watch him sneak out the door.

It seemed like a dream come true when we first moved in. A chance to leave my stressful job behind and fix things with James. But something gnaws at me each morning as I wave my husband off to work from our gated community, accept a coffee from Lin, our housekeeper, and watch my kids play in these eerily perfect, car-free streets. When a neighbor’s body is found floating in a pool during a party, the other wives say it was a tragic accident. But there are also whispers about the family who lived in our villa before us—just vanished one day, they say.

I loved the anonymity, flexibility and solitude that working the night shift at Storage Queen gave me. The unsociable hours paid well, helping me fund my university degree and giving me a quiet place to study while the world slept peacefully in their warm, cozy beds. It was the perfect job for me. But that Friday night proved to be more than I bargained for when a man walked through the door, dragging a large suitcase. My immediate instincts told me something was wrong. That’s when my ordeal began. I just had to make it through the night shift.

Story
They say I’m lucky to be alive. But the only thing I can remember are the faces of my husband and baby. The husband and baby they insist don’t exist … I can hear a door slamming, and the low hum of distant traffic. I struggle to open my eyes, and the panic sets in. I have no memory of who I am, why I’m here, where all this pain is coming from …

Tess Macfarlane is a documentary filmmaker tasked with capturing the wild beauty of Navigaceo. Accompanied by a small team of researchers, her job is to film everything she sees. But Tess sees too much: a body. It's clearly a recent murder.

Story
The winters in Willow Falls, Iowa are cold, brutal and unforgiving. And so is the town’s newest visitor. Except he’s not passing through. He’s here on vacation, for some fun and he’s going to stay for a while. They call him “Robin Hood”, a winter serial killer who has left a gruesome trail of horror and d ath across four Midwestern states. His grisly trademark is skewering his victims to tree trunks using a hunting crossbow. Now he’s here.

Story
In the early '60s, in a seemingly more "innocent" time, a group of teenagers were lured into a supposedly haunted house. The place on Sycamore Lane has a morbid history, but that's just hearsay and rumor, isn't it?

good back bad narration
The book overall was well written, easy to follow, and believable. The narration was horrible, I almost returned it because it was so bad. If you get past that it is worth a credit.
