About this listen
Ben longs to be Prime Minister one day. But with no political connections, he is about to crash out of a Master's degree with no future ahead. So when by chance he becomes fast friends with a young Arab prince, and is offered a job in his government, he jumps at the chance to get on the political ladder.
Amal dreads the throne. And with Ben’s help he wants to reform his country, steering it onto a path towards democracy. But with the king’s health failing, revolutionaries in the street, and terrorism threatening everyone, the country is ready to tear itself apart.
Alone in a hostile land, Ben must help Amal weigh what is best against what is right, making decisions that will risk his country, his family, and his life.

There is a saying that when lovers fall out, a plane goes down. A Case of Exploding Mangoes is the story of one such plane. Why did a Hercules C130, the world's sturdiest aircraft, carrying Pakistan's military dictator General Zia ul Haq, go down on 17 August, 1988?
Was it because of: mechanical failure; human error; the CIA's impatience; a blind woman's curse; generals not happy with their pension plans; the mango season? Or could it be your narrator, Ali Shigri?

Story
Meet John Milton. He considers himself an artisan. A craftsman. His trade is murder. Milton is the man the government sends after you when everything else has failed. Ruthless. Brilliant. Anonymous. Lethal. You wouldn't pick him out of a crowd but you wouldn't want to be on his list. In this second dip into his case files (see 1000 Yards for a further novella), Milton is sent to Italy to investigate the death of a colleague from Group 15.

Story
When Aline Griffith was born in Pearl River, New York, in 1923, one might have guessed from her exceptional beauty that a career as an actress or model might be in her future. Few would have imagined that twenty-one years later, she would find herself in Spain as a deep-cover OSS agent, infiltrating the highest levels of Spanish society, or that five years later still, she would marry a Spanish grandee and become one of the most watched, most admired, most fascinating women of international society. This is the story of Aline, Countess of Romanones, a story of courage, beauty and success that is far more exciting than any fictionalized thriller.

Brilliant a good listen/read
The Benevolent Dictator - This tale of a university graduate who wants to be in politics. So naive and wants to change the world. I would describe him as an innocent abroad. I found the book to be humorous and a page turner wanting this innocent to survive and thrive in the pool of political sharks.
Wonderful story and very entertaining. Give it a read or give it as a present.

Culture Clash
In this book British culture and norms clash with Arab cultures and norms. I feel that the way the differences in the cultures was handled felt realistic and made for very interesting reading. The settings for the story were really well done and it was easy to mentally picture what and where things were happening.
The characters are all quite different, there are things that link them but they also have many conflicts and differences that set them apart.
I enjoyed the story just for the entertainment value, but it's also a really interesting look at government and what does and doesn't work.
The character voices are well done, particularly the accents and the pace and tone of the delivery match the tone of the book.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Really interesting story with nuanced characters
The story line is intriguing as are the characters. Very topical subject but at the same time a page turning read as the characters are likeable and book well written. I actually think the book could have been longer with more stories in the mid section! Enjoyable!
