Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Story
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Super helpful
The book is very well structured. The most importan aspects of the bipolar disorder are discusses with a lot of examples that are easy to understand. I am diagnosed bipolar and I was able to relate so much to the book. It helped me recognize and describe my symptoms with more ease. There were a lot of tips on how to handle the highs and lows but also there was a lot of info for family members on how to cope with someone diagnosed bipolar.
