Publisher's summary

Young Mica Silverthorne is dragged from his home to fight in the Three Border Wars for his king. Mica is not like the others recruits. He is not the son of nobility or a wealthy merchant, but from a small village where they raise pigs. It's soon said he's a willing killer that wields a knife like an assassin.

However, his fame is undeserved. The deeds are contrived lies and exaggerations. His attempted explanations are confused with humility. He is ordered by his king to capture the impregnable fortress known as Cyan Castle. Everyone knows the task is impossible. Everyone but Mica.

excellent storytelling

the beginning is a bit of a slow wind up, but once the story begins to take shape its a captivating listen. the characters are well thought out and developed, and there are no "Mary Sue" moments that break the narrative. overall well worth the time to listen to

Circumstances break many people, but not Micah

I liked the book and continued to listen when I should have been doing other things. It is a nice change to read a book where the main character remembers their friends and takes care of them. The narrator was articulate and clear. I listened with the speed set up 10%.

Great adventure sorry

A memorable main character overcomes challenges to thrive in a difficult world. The story was engaging with great hooks in every chapter. The fictional world was believable with all the details given, and enhanced by excellent narration.
