Publisher's summary

After his brother took his throne and exiled him, Tiglath Ashur finds himself wandering the ancient world of the Mediterranean to outrun the killers sent after him, but Tigalth knows that staying away from his home won't be an option forever in the sequel novel to The Assyrian.

At the close of The Assyrian, fans discover that Esarhaddon has stolen the throne of Assyria from his brother, Tigalth, and exiled his brother from Nineveh. Now, Tigalth is on a flight out of the only home he's ever known to escape the hate of his brother and the threat of an assassin on his trail.

Traveling from the marshes in Euphrates, across the sea and to the desert into Egypt, Tigalth and his former slave, Kephalos, must stay on the move to remain alive. But undoubtedly, something will force him to return to home, whether it be fate or his brother....

Epic Ancient Tales!

I am obsessed w/ ancient history...so when I came across Nicholas Guild books I was in love. The Assyrian was amazing...his writing takes you there and allows you to feel w/ the characters. I love books where the characters take you along w/ them. I read the Assyrian a few years ago and since The Blood Star wasn't on audible yet, I bought the book. A quarter of the way through I saw Audible had it at last!! And to my delight the same narrator. Despite owning the book, I got the audible version. Such an epic journey w/ accurate historical characters and references. Just Loved this book! Assur is KING!

Fantastic!

This was a two-part series. I can’t believe this was written in the late 80s and I never knew about it. I listen to it at 1.25 speed and the narrator was fantastic as well. Highly recommend!

A magnificent conclusion to a great story

As much as I adored the original volume - The Assyrian - I turned speechless with delight upon concluding this fantastic, well-written historical drama; I am even sad for having reached its final, emotional end. BRAVO!!!
I wish additional audiobooks were available in the same rich, colorful historical context.

Historical fiction at its Best!

I had the opportunity to read a factual account of the Assyrian empire between the first and second books. This story is historically accurate. Dropping Tiglath in as the fictional brother of Esharhadon was brilliant. Great listen!
