About this listen

Capitol City's Natural History Museum is haunted—or at least that's what someone wants people to think. But Wilson Kipper, son of the museum's head paleontologist, knows better. When the mysterious occurrences go from spooky to dangerous, the museum is forced to close its doors. Can Wilson and his friends get to the bottom of things, or will the Natural History Museum be closed for good?

Meh, it's okay

Let me preface this with I really like books, especially kids books. I felt like the story itself was okay, kinda mediocre. It felt like it was going for a Scooby-Doo eque style but almost as "kids". The kids I felt were too smart in some areas but also way too dumb. I felt like the author wanted to use scientific words only when talking about dinosaurs, if felt weird and forced. I didn't really feel like any character was well balanced. Even the villain, very 2D character. I'm not a fan of the entire book as one long segment as I like to listen to chapters over again to make sure there wasn't anything I missed. The reason why my rating is so low, is because of the performance, holy wowza it was a struggle to listen to. There were so many random pauses that it pulled me out of the experience and I disconnected from the book so much that I struggled to follow along. For example a character would be talking and say something like "I want a grilled cheese for lunch" that's not in the book so it's not a spoiler, but the narrator will read it as "I want a grilled cheese for (wait 3 seconds) lunch" if it was just once or twice I could handle it. If it was just taking a breath, no problem but this was often! Like 3+ times a chapter. There is no reason why there would be such long pauses in it. I thought it might have been me and my phone getting notifications but it wasn't. I had gone into airplane mode and turned off all notifications and it was still doing it.
