About this listen

Though known for his classic novels of adventure and coming of age, Mark Twain is equally esteemed for his short stories, which abound with the colorful characters and often comic antics readers have come to expect from his longer works. Included here is "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County," a wild yarn involving a case of mistaken identity, a gambler who'd bet on anything, and an unusual frog named Daniel Webster. Originally published in the Saturday Press in 1865, the tale was immensely popular, and in 1867 an expandedversion was published.

A nostalgic read

I read this as part of our American Literature subject back in college and all I remember is that the celebrated jumping frog came into the picture after a very long, winding introduction. Regardless, I am still delighted to finally able to listen to the famous Kaleo Griffith...and reading this story again, of course.

Laugh out loud funny

That good ol Mark Twain

This is a short story but I was raised in the Sonora/Angles Camp area so to me it's a great one! Samuel Clemens knew how to take something that he'd seen or heard about and break it down to be and edge of your seat story lol. If this is your last Mark Twain story or your very first one, it's most assurably worth the time to listen to.
