Reuniting over what could've been a tragedy.

This was a cute short story about two individuals come back into each other's lives for good. Years ago Laura left Washington to pursue a dancing career in New York. Circumstances dictated Jon was not able to follow. Being as upset as he was about her leaving him, he didn't respond to any of her attempts to communicate with him. So, for years, they'd both been living slightly under the assumption that the other walked away from the relationship (literally, in Laura's case).

Considering the title of the book includes the word Horse, I was happy to find that there was a horse predominantly featured in the book. That horse is Laura's 20-something year old horse, Red. Now, if you're a horse lover and/or owner, Laura and Jon's first interaction in years is due to a scene that might make you want to cry, or, at the very least, tie your stomach up in knots. Just remember, this is a happy story in which nobody dies (even though the reality of how the pool scene could have ended for Red is chilling).

Through the horse scare, Laura and Jon were forced to interact once again and Jon was none too pleased about it. All of that being said, they both learn about things that happened while they were apart that make them view the separation in a new light. In the end, everybody (including Red) lives HEA.

Rachael Messer's narration was okay, but not great. The male voices pretty much all sounded the same. There was only one female voice so I don't know if that would be the case with female voices as well.

Nice read

Short but sweet story. Left me wanting more. Will defiantly be reading more of Jennifer Conners work!

Too short

Not much of a story. Girl fails, moves home, old boyfriend still loves her, so they get together. In 30 minutes. Too short and transparent for me. Sorry, I need more.
