Great adult fantasy series

Read a review about six foot great swords and hoses and almost passed on this one. Honestly. Six foot long swords were not uncommon in the Middle Ages. Two hands with a twelve-eighteen inch hilt carried on the back, they existed. And for dudes who carried them, ideal total length was the height of the wielder. Also, first hoses were documented 2500 bc or something like that. Fire hoses made of ox stomachs and intestines. So anyway. It’s still a great, funny definitely adult read. There were times it reminded me of the Godling Chronicles. There were times when I was reminded of Wheel of Time. Oh! And the Stormlight Archives. I love my fantasy fiction. Someone else said it was steeped in Celtic mythos. Also a turn off for me but this had me laughing, crying, laughing, laughing and fired up in righteous indignation. Only downside? As a reader and audiobook fan and literate American some of the pronunciation of the narrator was difficult. He does have a wonderful voice and accent, but what’s a “kickada?” Still loved it, glad I got it, will listen to it again. Maybe after I do Sister Fidelma or Harry Dresden again. Hope this reaches people like me.

Good story, but

it took hours of listening, rewinding & re-listening to figure out what the narrator was saying. He has no concept of phrasing with the way the words flow on the page. It's like, a pause at, every five, words, and he reads fast. Everything sounds like some sort of dramatic whine or question. Seriously. I ended up setting speed to 90% just so i could tolerate it.
Then there's the pronunciation. After the 1st few hours, I got used to words sounding like and including "now" being pronounced as "nigh", and a few others, which might be due to the very strong accent. But many other words were pronounced phonetically, as if the reader didn't recognize the word. I'm not talking unusual words here. Corral, as in horses, was coral, as in the ocean critter. That sort of thing.
I found a few anachronistic references a little distracting, but overall I liked the story itself. I'd love to hear it read by a better narrator.

so so

builds up to a great God War that happens in 2 mins. Disappointing at best. No love for the main character. Half the time I wonder why the author made him so hard headed and stupid. just makes it hard to stay with the story.

couldn't stop listening.

I loved everything about this trilogy. the story, the writing, the narration! I've already added several more books with both writer & narrator to my queue. perfection!

good story

Enjoyable storyline with memorable characters. There are a lot of characters in these books so you have to pay close attention to each or they get confusing. There's plenty of battles though there is a lack of suspenseful build up. Didn't keep me at the edge of my seat but kept my interest throughout. All in all a decent read and a great delivery.

started slowly but 68 hours of greatness!

the first 2 hours started slowly, but as the story unfolded. I couldn't get enough and 68 hours later I wanted more. of of the time between the victory and the end. Nothing is ever forgotten and everything has its time. loved it!

Good story

The epic story was good, the finish was a little thin. I found it Enjoyable, whilst a little predictable.
