you must read/ listen to this book NOW!!!

the story that you never want to live, but need to know.. wile this is clearly fiction, I struggle to find a single event or situation in any of the books, that would give me pause to consider, that this is an description of a real event... I just hope It never comes to pass....
and to Mc Dermott I'll say get your ass in gear I definitely want more of your books to read...

love

R.E. McDermott creates post apocalyptic stories that are realistic and believable. And Kevin Pierce is my fave narrator of this type story.

A very interesting twist

First let me say this book was outstanding. I would recommend that people read the very last epilogue first however before reading the book. It is likewise extremely informative.

This is a very likely/possible scenario following a solar storm as opposed to an EMP. There are a number of interesting alternative scenarios in the situation. I look forward to reading McDermott’s other books.

action packed

got this book because it was so long. before starting I thought it might have been a mistake. but I'm glad I got it. there is so much going on and it was easy to follow along with it. most of all I live on the east coast, and know about the A.T. it's always exciting when a book starts talking about places you've been and you live at!

Awesome!

Great series. My only complaint, I wish it was longer. I was totally engrossed in this from the beginning. The scenario, circumstances, details and characters are very believable, this adds greatly to the book. Fast paced, lots of action with plenty of human emotions.

Fine story-telling

Three reasons I love this book:

- Nothing in this tale couldn't happen. Some of the best fiction has no impossible scenarios. Think Stephen King's "Misery"
- The characters are well developed and become old friends.
- The reader's performance is top-notch.

This book combines a great escape with a lot of things to think about when it comes to being ready for emergencies. Get it now!

Very good apocalyptic story

I’ve really enjoyed this book. It is an interesting and thought provoking story about what could happen if our electrical grid goes down. It has certainly started me thinking about things I might be able to do to prepare myself and my family. And it made me want to listen to more books by R. E. McDermott!
