About this listen

Two women. An office filled with secrets. One terrible crime that can't be taken back.

Dawn Schiff is strange.

At least, everyone thinks so at Vixed, the nutritional supplement company where Dawn works as an accountant. She never says the right thing. She has no friends. And she is always at her desk at precisely 8:45 a.m.

So when Dawn doesn't show up to the office one morning, her coworker Natalie Farrell―beautiful, popular, top sales rep five years running―is surprised. Then she receives an unsettling, anonymous phone call that changes everything…

It turns out Dawn wasn't just an awkward outsider―she was being targeted by someone close. And now Natalie is irrevocably tied to Dawn as she finds herself caught in a twisted game of cat and mouse that leaves her wondering: who's the real victim? But one thing is incredibly clear: somebody hated Dawn Schiff.

Enough to kill.

The Coworker is a tense, captivating thriller from New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden that explores the dark ways the past can echo through the present―with deadly consequences.

storyline was good

I kept thinking this was narrated by artificial intelligence. A handful of words were mispronounced, Then I noticed a couple of places where the exact words were duplicated from an earlier chapter, so the proofreader didn't catch that. The story was decent though.

Obsessed with Freida but this was my least favorite

It kept me reading but just was not as exciting as her other books and I have read or listened to every single one. The characters were not very likable. I did not like how Dawn being on the spectrum had to be unlikable and in the spoiler alert a bad person in the end.

Love all of Freida’s books except for 2

Dawn sounded like Kevin Malone from the Office, so it was hard to listen to, when even in the show they spoofed him, saying he sounds like Cookie Monster. The story was ok, felt like there were only 5 characters in this world/4 in their office, and characters did what felt like 3 days of story. I’m a fan of Freida and I recommend everyone to read all of her books but maybe save this one after you read them all.

Just when you think you have it figured out things get twisty. She's done it again. Fantastic!

Good, but not my favorite

Freida is amazingly talented and her writing flows into a seamless and interesting story. The narration spoiled the experience. The voice was one dimensional and no real difference/ acting between voices. It fell a little flat.

I could not STOP!

The Co-worker by Freida McFadden was absolutely crazy! I have anticipated this release for a few months now and it's truly mind blowing. You're always on edge trying to figure out what's actually going on. However with Freida McFadden you never actually know what's happening until the end-end!!! I cannot wait for my next Freida fix! If you love physiological thriller books that keep you guessing the Co-worker should be your next read!

One of my favorites.

I am surprised this didn’t get better reviews. I really enjoyed this book. It was twisty and I did not see the plot twist coming whatsoever. It’s definitely worth the read.

Loved this detour from her typical style

I enjoyed the correspondence within the plot and really loved how the reader brought Dawn to life. I’ve found repetitive trends in Frieda McFadden’s other books. This book had more well developed characters who were farther from the stereotypes she usually uses. I’d recommend it!
