About this listen

#1 WORLDWIDE BESTSELLER • While in Paris, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is awakened by a phone call in the dead of the night. The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, his body covered in baffling symbols.

“Blockbuster perfection.... A gleefully erudite suspense novel.” —The New York Times

“A pulse-quickening, brain-teasing adventure.” —
People

As Langdon and gifted French cryptologist Sophie Neveu sort through the bizarre riddles, they are stunned to discover a trail of clues hidden in the works of Leonardo da Vinci—clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

Even more startling, the late curator was involved in the Priory of Sion—a secret society whose members included Sir Isaac Newton, Victor Hugo, and Da Vinci—and he guarded a breathtaking historical secret. Unless Langdon and Neveu can decipher the labyrinthine puzzle—while avoiding the faceless adversary who shadows their every move—the explosive, ancient truth will be lost forever.

Incredibly entertaining

What a captivating story! The narrators voices are greatly varied.I felt like watching a movie and was so enetertained that I couldn't take my headphones off.The historic and scientific facts are very interesting and contribute to common knowledge in an easy going way. Anytime you think you know where the story is headed it takes another turn keeping the thrill-factor high.I highly recommend it.

I loved it!

Disregard my review of the abridged version. This one MUST be unabridged.

I listened to this book while I cleaned my house and kitchen--they've never been so clean! I totally got caught up in the mystery. When I came to the end, I was left wanting more.

I Didn't Sleep the Night I Picked Up This Book

When I first started reading this book early Saturday morning, I did not realize that I would end up neglecting food, shower, bathroom, and sleep for a full 16 hours.
This gripping tale in the quest for the Holy Grail perfectly captures the reader with the main character who, like the reader, is completely unaware of the adventure in store. Brown has character development down to an art and is an expert at providing the reader with information only when appropriate.
I enthusiastically encourage all to share this original and engaging novel!

Great Plot

Educational with regard to the Catholic religion. Writing is sophomoric, but the plot is gripping.

Not a masterpiece but a fun romp!

If you're looking for a fun summer read that has the added benefit of being intellectually stimulating, this is it. The hype generally surrounding bestsellers is usually enough to turn me off but I gave this a try at the suggestion of a friend. I was not disappointed. Approach it like a serial novel and don't take it too seriously although there are enough facts inside to tempt you. I guess I don't know what a "true" british or french accent is supposed to sound like but the narrator did a good job with the possible exception of Sopie Noveu. My experience is that most male narrators have a hard time doing female voices and this is no exception. Enjoy.

Excellent

I really liked this book. I listen to it in my car on the way to work each day. I also watched the movie and would recommend the book over the movie. I am also going to listen to Angels and Demons.

The DaVinci Code (Unabridged)

Whew! Where does fact end and fiction begin? I am a history buff and I do not know. The details are important. Be careful when you start to listen because you will be compelled to finish. Several friends have felt the same.

Nail-Biting

This was one of the most thrilling books that I have ever read. The author does a great job in taking you on a virtual tour of Europe and at the same time keeping your heart beating at a hundred miles an hour. The only warning that I have for you is that it can be a very controversial book for some people, but don't read too much into it. It is, by the way, only fiction.
