About this listen

The greatest superpower of all isn't to be part spider, part man, or to cast magic spells—the greatest power is the power to create. Daniel has that power. Daniel's secret abilities—like being able to manipulate objects and animals with his mind or to recreate himself in any shape he chooses—have helped him survive. But Daniel doesn't have a normal life. He is the protector of the earth, the Alien Hunter, with a mission beyond what anyone could imagine. From the day that his parents were brutally murdered in front of his very eyes, Daniel has used his unique gifts to hunt down their assassin. Finally, with the help of The List bequeathed to him in his parents' dying breath, he has located the killer. Now, on his own, he vows to take on his father's mission—and to have vengeance in the process.

Short but Good

This is a childrens type book. It is intertaining and keeps the attention. It is very well written and thought out. I like the premiss, the plot, and the flow. It sets up for more books in a series that I shall purchase. It is so short that i finished it in an afternoon so I'm not really into the charge of a whole credit, but I enjoyed the book.

Underated, and very amusing

I think this book is underrated and not at all so bad as some reviewers seem to think. Took some time to get into it, but then it was exciting and quite an funny book, and I actually didnt like the MiB movies, but as a book it works.

Very good narration!

Fun and creative story

I read/listened to this book because it was chosen for our family book club. It was fun. The references to locations and events i am familiar with created vivid imagery, then blasted off into fiction and adventure on other planets with super powers, fighting for galactic freedom, while still maintaining human emotions with a moral, compassionate, compass. It created a nice bridge between generations in our family.

Great production!

Great dramatic production! Much more than simply someone reading a book to you. My 10 year- old boy (Daniel) also loved it!

Don't read Daniel X: Genesis first

I read Daniel X: Genesis from my recommendations and found this series. Only problem is, there is almost no story continuity between the two stories. It's like two different stories written on the same premise with a handful of the same characters.

It's a decent book though. If you like cheesy funny sci-fi which I do.

Made an Impression on a Hard Sell

What did you love best about The Dangerous Days of Daniel X?

I am a special education teacher - I purchased Daniel X for a student on the recommendation of a friend. This kido absolutely LOVED the Percy Jackson series and had a hard time finding something else to read when he had exhausted that series and the related books. If it wasn't Greek Mythology, he didn't want any part of it. I convinced him to at least give this book a try. We both started listening in our own time, but when he got ahead of me he started fussing that I needed to hurry and get caught up as it was so good. Then he would mention a little tidbit to get me to want to finish. To see him so excited about a book with a completely different theme was awesome. As for myself, I still am not completely finished with the book, but I enjoy the story. The science fiction/alien part of the book is cool. Kids will love it. The narrator did a great job with the narrating. I had no trouble imagining the characters and their thoughts and feelings of the situations. I don't think I have to say too much about James Patterson as an author - his other works speak for him and his skill as an author. I will be purchasing the rest of this series for my student.

Decent book, not a great performance

I enjoyed the book itself, though some of the syntax was a bit clunky and the chapters are ridiculously and unnecessarily short. It was also rather hard to listen to, given the voice acting. I was never the biggest fan of Milo Ventimiglia, but his voice-over was even worse than his on-screen work. Weird interpretations of common vernacular or missing the inflections of clear references or quotes--stuff that could and should have been addressed by the directors or producers--just made what could have been a really fun book kind of dull and melodramatic. Also, his accents are pretty terrible. I'll be steering clear of anything else he's recorded. A shame really, because I was looking forward to listening to the entire series while I do housework, but I think I'll have to choose something else, and leave Daniel X for actual reading.
