Publisher's summary
The discovery of long-lost mail delivers a marriage proposal, a missing person, and a magical mystery.
A road trip with Gabe and her friends leads Sylvia to discover more about her mother’s veiled past yet throws up several questions, too. The stack of unopened letters addressed to her family will hopefully provide answers. As she delves into the contents, a startling revelation emerges: the letters allude to a clandestine union between two magician families, hinting at the elusive identity of Sylvia’s father.
Full of hope, she embarks on a quest to find the author of the letters, only to discover an artless youth who vanished decades ago, a dead man with the wrong name, and a hospital for former soldiers that connects them. The further Sylvia and Gabe delve into these mysteries, the more lies they expose, including long-buried secrets that certain individuals will stop at nothing to protect.
When danger strikes, Sylvia wonders if finding answers is worth the risk.

She seeks answers from a member of the most prominent family of magicians, but she quickly learns that finding the truth won't be easy, especially when he turns out to be as artless as her, and more compelling and dangerous than books.

The king's magnificent palace was built in a matter of weeks. No one saw the builders, no villagers are allowed beyond the gilded gate, and only one servant has ever left. The haunted look in her eyes as she was recaptured by the palace guards is something Josie, daughter of the village doctor, has never forgotten. For Josie, the palace is a mystery that grows more intriguing after she meets the captain of the guards, a man known only as Hammer, as mysterious and captivating as the palace itself. Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Seventeen-year-old spirit medium Emily Chambers has a problem. Actually, she has several. As if seeing dead people isn’t a big enough social disadvantage, she also has to contend with an escaped demon and a handsome ghost with a secret past. And then there’s the question of her parentage. Being born an entire year after her father’s death (yes, a year), Emily is as much a mystery as the dead boy assigned to her.

Whispers of magic fuel Josie's desire to uncover the truth, but an ordinary girl like her can only dream of ever being invited inside.

It’s customary for Gothic romance novels to include a mysterious girl locked in the attic. Hannah Smith just wishes she wasn’t that girl. As a narcoleptic and the companion to an earl’s daughter with a strange affliction of her own, Hannah knows she’s lucky to have a roof over her head and food in her belly when so many orphans starve on the streets. Yet freedom is something Hannah longs for. She did not, however, want her freedom to arrive in the form of kidnapping.

Dying is the only thing people do with any regularity, and Fiona makes her indecorous living cleaning up after the corpses are carted away. Her childhood best friend, Mary, was the last known victim of Jack the Ripper. It's been two years since Fiona scrubbed Mary's blood from the floorboards, and London is no longer buzzing about the Ripper, but Fiona hasn't forgotten. When she's called to a murder in the middle of the night, Fiona finds a victim mutilated in an eerily similar fashion to those of the Ripper, and only a few doors down from Mary's old home.

The two main characters were wonderful! But the supporting cast were just as intriguing.
It kept me engaged, the whole way through. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say there were a couple of true gasp out loud moments. Can’t wait for the next one, but am going to start the Glass and Steel series, of which I was unaware until I started this one.
And, the narrator! Wonderful!

It lost the passion of the first set of books
I don’t like how they’re trying to drag out the first plot point I mean it’s obvious if you read the glass and steel series who this girl’s parents are

The saga continues…..
I basically like the series but find Willy incredibly annoying!!!! arrgh!
The romance is also annoying because it’s so slow ! I get through the stories like you get through holidays with relatives…
you’re always gonna go back because you know them and love them, but they’re still going to annoy you !

Interesting storyline, frustrating character development.
I have really appreciated and enjoyed the two glass series. This one is becoming more and more frustrating because the character development between the main characters is so glacial that it’s becoming painful.

The characters
I enjoyed the story but must have missed a book as it took me a while to catch up to present plot as a few characters had changed . After that enjoyed the narrator and the story. But it was a little too predictable at the end.

I just wish the two would get together already. Story was entertaining and at times I couldn't put it down. Good addition to this series.
