Publisher's summary

Amy and Dan have managed to rescue one of the Cahills kidnapped by the Vespers, but the remaining hostages are still in peril. Their search for the next ransom item leads Amy and Dan to Turkey and then to Italy where a visit to the site of an ancient disaster changes everything. The Vespers are far more dangerous than the siblings ever imagined and, even worse, it looks like they have an undercover mole posing as a Cahill. Amy and Dan have to face the biggest decision of their lives with nowhere to turn... and no one to trust.

Just right for my 9 y.o.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If your kids enjoyed other books from "The 39 Clues" series, they want be disappointed. To me this series is like a pack of vitamin candies - kids love them, you know there is not much nutritional value in them, but you yield once in a while (in this case "vitamins" are some geography and history).

is ATJ Vesper 1

As Amy and dan continue to collect clues and specific items for Vesper 1 they uncover an ally relationship that was in the making long before either one of them was born, another family helping the Madrigals through out history are known as the Guardians. And with the help of Amy and Dan the guardian is now figuring out his place within this crazy story that he always thought was a bed time story that his mother made up. This adventure is more dangerous than Dan and Amy thought it would ever be, one good thing is that they were able to save at lease one life of a guardian but lost another guardian. As they run around with Aticus and his brother following clues they meet different individuals which Adleburry finds out are Vespers, but they are still unsure who is Vesper 1. As they were doing that they discover different clues that is leading them to think that there was a Cahill from their past who was really a Vesper, who they believe it is will shock you. When they get a photo of the hostages Amy and Shenade jump into action to try and find out what type of lizard Nelly is holding up in hopes to find their family. Ian is MIA what is he up too, and what dose Isabell Cabrah have to do with this and Vesper 1? Shenade figures out that the hostages' may be in Argentina, the lizard that she is holding up is an Argentina lizard.

Disappointed

Would you listen to The Dead of Night again? Why?

Only to jog my memory for the next installment.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

One of the most interesting was the interactions with the Vespers. The story was so terribly short. Alot less detail.

Which character – as performed by David Pittu – was your favorite?

The character of Atticus was my favorite.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This was a book I wanted to listen to in one sitting, and did.

Any additional comments?

This series has been very entertaining until this one. It was a really short story compared to the others in this series.

Fun stuff!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book is good for learning Geography - I keep hearing about places and end up looking them up on Google Earth.

What did you like best about this story?

Solid story, well laid out. There were times when I said to myself, "Really?" because the kids do a few things that are dumb that make the story a bit more predictable. However, the backstory with the Dad is great.

What about David Pittu’s performance did you like?

David Pittu is one of the best. The voices are very distinctive, and easy to listen to. Also, the production is top notch. Some audiobooks have obvious cuts and pops, and the sound quality can be rough, but not so with this company. The clarity and even the music are both perfect for this reading.
