But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth....

The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

I adore this book!
I love this book and really enjoyed the story! The boxcar children series never disappoints. Other may say the narrating is annoying, but I actually really like it. It further immersed you in the story and defines each characters voice. This way it isn’t confusing. It enough suspense, but isn’t scary. 100% recommend!!!

Adventure awards you
I love that the boxcar children are always thinking. But there not always thinking about the mystery but thinking of others. I also like how funny Benny is. The boxcar children will always have a place in my heart ♥️

My only problem: the bad accents.other wise the kids don’t fight, and it’s not to scary. I highly recommend this.

Six Year Old Loves It
My son can not get enough of these books. He listens to them on repeat. I love that the characters work together and praise each other’s strengths without fighting or belittling one another. He loves helping the Alden children work out the clues in this book and loves that it brings in characters from past books.
