Publisher's summary

Dear Listener,

What comes to mind when you think of a diamond slipper? Cinderella, perhaps? That's what Cordelia Brandenburg imagines when her godparents arrange a marriage for her with a man she's never met - a marriage that will take her to Versailles, far from the rigid confines of her childhood home. The betrothal gift is a charm bracelet with a tiny, glittering diamond slipper attached... as befits a journey into a fairytale future.

But Cordelia - young, headstrong, and completely adorable - runs into trouble right away. Her escort to the wedding is the golden-eyed, sensual, teasing Viscount Leo Kierston. For Cordelia, it's love at first sight. Yet Leo seems to see only a spoiled child - perhaps it's the way she cheats at chess - and Cordelia is determined to show him the woman beneath.

There is, however, no escaping her arranged marriage. She's devastated to discover that her new husband is an utterly loathsome tyrant who will stop at nothing to satisfy his twisted desires.

My heart went out to Cordelia as she struggles courageously against a man determined to break her spirit. But her husband has a secret, one that will bring down the vengeance of Viscount Kierston and all who have reason to hate him.

I hope you'll enjoy this love story of two of my very favorite characters.

Warmest wishes,

Jane Feather

Editorial reviews

The young and beautiful Cordelia Brandenburg is full of wonderful thoughts and wild anticipation as her arranged marriage draws near. Her tune changes quickly, however, when her escort on the fateful day proves to be a much more alluring catch. Veteran performer Serena Daniels handles this titillating tale of romance and suspense with a wonderfully animated delivery that puts listeners right in the middle of Cordelia’s romantic mess. From the cherished mind of author Jane Feather, The Diamond Slipper is a tale of perseverance and love that is not to be missed.

Missed epilogue

The story was good. I. Just was an epilogue to fiinisb out the story Did they have to flee to England? Was Christian able to return to his music and his dancer? Just felt a little unfinished.

Good storyline but too long

I like Jane Feather writing style and her storylines always more imaginative than most romances, I this case plot line was great: young beautiful bride falls head over hills in love with the wrong man when she is about to marry old and sadistic villain, there are poisonings, french court and duel with poisoned rapiers.

Heroine endures a lot of unpleasantness, her new husband enjoyed beating her in and out of the bedroom but despite her young age she is strong and resilient and doesn’t break under his abuse. ( the bedroom scenes are not graphic, there is abuse but no descriptions)

The reasons it’s a three star rating for me is the length of book, sometimes it felt like it drags along a bit and I was loosing interest, also, the relationship between H/H, I just didn’t feel the love or tension or anything for them just a bit flat and passionless....

Overall it was well written book worth listening.
