Also I love Simon Jones and believe he could read his laundry list and make it entertaining.
This book was not bad, but it felt like it was extremely abridged, I constantly found myself skipping back a few minutes, because I believed I most have lost concentration and missed something. But no there just was not much meat on the bone here. The plot is interesting, but the details are lacking, the motivations are weak.
The book had enough potential that I’m thinking of listening to the last book in the series to see if the skills of the author improve over time, but I will not re-listen to this book which is very unusual for me.
If you are an adult who sometimes reads a light hearted children’s book because you are waiting for Audible to add to their collection, this is not the book for you. I would recommend the Graveyard book by Neil Gamin or anything by Pratchett or Colfer.
Not for the whole family

What made the experience of listening to The Dragon's Eye the most enjoyable?
I know that these books are supposed to be for children - but I have to admit, that I really enjoyed them. If you're "above the intended age group" -- you'll soon find that you are whisked back to your childhood! The beginning of a fun and playful series.
