Acerca de esta escucha

All paths lead to war....

Marcus' hero days are behind him. He knows too well that even the smallest war still means somebody's death. When his men are impressed into a doomed army, staying out of a battle he wants no part of requires some unorthodox steps.

Cithrin is an orphan, ward of a banking house. Her job is to smuggle a nation's wealth across a war zone, hiding the gold from both sides. She knows the secret life of commerce like a second language, but the strategies of trade will not defend her from swords.

Geder, sole scion of a noble house, has more interest in philosophy than in swordplay. A poor excuse for a soldier, he is a pawn in these games. No one can predict what he will become.

Falling pebbles can start a landslide. A spat between the Free Cities and the Severed Throne is spiraling out of control. A new player rises from the depths of history, fanning the flames that will sweep the entire region onto The Dragon's Path - the path to war.

Easy to follow and good pace. The characters are likeable that are supposed to be and also believable. I look forward to the next book.

Solid

I really like the story (buying book 2 after I leave this). But the first of the story has so many sound effects that most of the first 10 minutes is nearly impossible to understand. Then, the reader (throughout the book) speaks LOUDLY at the start of a sentence and rapidly falls off as it goes on - leaving you with the choice of being deafened at the first of each sentence or missing 30% of what is said at the end.

Good story - but the reading volume is rough

Great story, great performance. Can't wait to start the next book in the series. I came to this story thirsty for more stories like The Expanse series.

Loved it

Game of Thrones quality writing right here! I've become bored with poorly written stories, immature and flat characters, and uninformed authors. Dragons Path contains a rich mix of textured characters that you want to love and the narration brings them to life so well!

I wanted to like this book, I really did. In fact, I think Abraham is a fantastic author and he and Ty wrote my favorite series ever. But I just couldn't get into why I should care about any of the characters. The characters are all flat and clinical, like they were carefully crafted by some focus group concerned about hitting all the tropes. A gruff master fighter guy with a soft spot for children, a child who is way smarter and more experienced than she should be, an oaf whose horrible deeds are explained away because he doesn't know any better... and then other people I honestly forgot because they were so flat. The plot sounds cool enough but it is beaten to death with over explaining of internal moral dialogues. I feel like I just read a 500 something page prologue.

Zero heart

Felt like it got off to a slow start, but it definitely drew me into the author's vision. The characters grow in complexity, and the themes of history, economics, religion, and political behaviors become intertwined in interesting ways. The reader's skillful interpretation of the characters really aided my enjoyment of the book. on to the next one in the series!

Compelling Beginning to this World

I'm pickier than ever with fantasy. Right now I needed a Game of Thrones style of story with interesting characters. This scratches that itch. Mostly. The plot is building but I don't feel like it has gotten to the heights it aspires to yet. I believe it will get there. It was easy and entertaining to listen to. The genius thing about Game of Thrones is it used mostly simple and easy to remember names to keep readers immediately attached to any situation. The same is mostly done here with character names and places and the worldbuilding is great. The only problem is when it comes to the many, TWELVE races in the world I barely remember the words and descriptions of each and have to refer to other sources to figure it out. That's only an audio problem. Either way, it didn't keep me from finishing the story. I am genuinely looking forward to the next one. I'm not desperate to read it but happily choose to, if that makes sense. This is my style of adult fantasy that isn't pure shock and spectacle, but has those elements peppered in here and there maturely. It's a smart story and has smart characters. This makes me as a reader feel more intelligent and respected. I enjoy the descriptive prose but also its simplicity. The Expanse by this author is another of my absolute favorite stories, especially the tv series, so I have high hopes for the rest of the Dagger and Coin. It's political sword and sorcery in a low fantasy setting with a looming promise of bigger, fouler things to come. I say let them come.

Pretty great.

The plot line about banking was easily the most interesting in the story. Flat characters. Meh

Boring

The main plot starts off slow but builds to a nice rate of keeping you on the edge to find out more.
