Publisher's summary

Penderleigh Castle is the home of the Robertsons, who have just been dealt a terrible blow. Their new master, already an English duke, has just been named the Scottish Earl of Penderleigh.

Ian Carmichael, Duke of Portmaine, is proud, aristocratic, handsome as the devil's right hand, and kinder than any grousing Robertson has a right to expect. Brandy Robertson - the old earl's granddaughter - takes one look at the duke and her heart goes ballistic. The problem is, the duke is already engaged, and if that isn't bad enough, someone wants to kill him....

It's okay.

It's like the reversal of roles. The narrator makes everyone sound evil. It needs better sex scenes.

A rakish duke and a Scottish country girl

Good storyline, interesting characters and yet I found myself still a bit unsatisfied. The story was believable enough since the duke did not fall for the Brandy until later in the story but her issues with her breast size was ridiculous as it continued on throughout almost the book. She felt like she was a cow and it was said enough to make me want to scream. I liked the little twist added to the story at the end and the manner in which her sister finally fell for the right man.

There was a couple of negative points worth pointing out (yes aside from the breast issue). It seems unlikely that the high bred Duke would pick up Scottish slang as he did soon after arriving Scotland. And when the Duke came back for the cousin's wedding, it was not clear why Brandy ran into his arms without at least finding out why he returned especially after the way they left everything last they saw each other. Also the Duke seems to know about a rape attempt and there was no mention of him getting informed of that prior to. The duke also seemed so blasé about it. very weird.

Do I recommend this book? Yes I do. Few books are perfect as written but I found this story entertaining and worth the credit.

One of my favourite from Cathrine Coulter

I loved this story, and was very pleasantly surprised by it: unlike typical CC romances there is no violence and abuse, most characters are likeable and love story is beautiful.
There is a lot of criticism of Anne Flosnik, I actually came to enjoy her narration style, it did take a while to get used to it as sometimes she tends to be overly dramatic but she also brings the story to life beautifully.....🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The Duke

Lovely story with strong, opinionated man surprised by an uncharacteristically strong willed woman. Great romance!

Ok

Ok I expected a little more. I was left wanting more although I did not expect the culprit to be who it was.

Absolutely can't stand the narrator

Every once in a while when I want a light mindless read a good romance fills the need. Classic Ann Coulter is good, however I made the mistake of purchasing several of her novels read previously in paperback form. Unfortunately all of them narrated by this performer were a waste of money. I can't stand her voice, or her performance. It grates on my nerves to the point my teeth literally hurt. 5 minutes of being forced to listen to her and I'd tell you every deep secret I've got to get you to turn it off!!!
