Not only do I use the Bible (many do); I have done my best to give the solution to a problem that has been spoken of from the founding of this nation. The book validates prophecy that has been buried under misunderstanding and abuses. It educates us on how the sensitive, controversial, and never-reconciled Black/White issue should be viewed and handled so as not to abuse anyone or to perpetuate oppression. The book takes the position that once this issue is reconciled, all similar issues are simultaneously addressed. All ethnicities are acknowledged. All oppression ceases.

Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Story
For two centuries, the deep-seated fear that many White people feel—of losing power, of losing economic standing, of losing a particular “way of life”—has been the driving force behind American politics and culture. And as we approach a future where White people will become a racial minority in the US, something estimated to occur as early as 2043, that fear is only intensifying, festering, and becoming more visible. Are we destined for a violent clash? What can we do to step into our country’s inevitable future, without tearing ourselves apart in the process?

Story
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

Story
The construct of race has always been used to gain and keep power, to create dynamics that separate and silence. This remarkable reimagining of Dr. Ibram X. Kendi's National Book Award-winning Stamped from the Beginning reveals the history of racist ideas in America, and inspires hope for an antiracist future. It takes you on a race journey from then to now, shows you why we feel how we feel, and why the poison of racism lingers. It also proves that while racist ideas have always been easy to fabricate and distribute, they can also be discredited.

Editorial reviews
The revolutionary words of Malcolm X continue to resonate today in this performance of four of the legendary African-American leader's speeches from the 1960s. Voice performer George Washington III truly inhabits the role of Malcolm X, delivering his speeches in the same fiery diction that made him such a charismatic and compelling speaker 50 years ago. The stirring addresses in The End of White World Supremacy: Four Speeches touch on subjects including black pride, the black Muslim cause, and the black revolution that would see African-Americans freed from the oppression of white society. With Malcolm X's electrifying original words and George Washington III's skilled contemporary oration, these speeches still have the power to provoke.

The same Christianity that sang, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound" also perpetuated racial injustice and white supremacy in the name of Jesus. His Christianity, he discovered, was the religion of the slaveholder. Just as Reconstruction after the Civil War worked to repair a desperately broken society, compromised Christianity requires a spiritual reconstruction.

These words were read by a remarkable cast at an event held at the 92nd Street Y in New York City that included James Earl Jones, Alice Walker, Kurt Vonnegut, Alfre Woodard, Marisa Tomei, Danny Glover, Harris Yulin, Andre Gregory, and others.

Story
In 1972, during the Black Power Movement, iconoclast Dick Gregory challenged one of the foundations of America itself - its history, which had been written almost exclusively from the white male perspective. In No More Lies, this true trailblazer gave voice to African Americans, speaking their truth about the past and race relations in the United States. No More Lies offers this incomparable satirist’s intellectual, conspiratorial, and humorous spin on the facts.

The Inconvenient Indian is at once a “history” and the complete subversion of a history - in short, a critical and personal meditation that the remarkable Thomas King has conducted over the past 50 years about what it means to be “Indian” in North America. Rich with dark and light, pain and magic, this book distills the insights gleaned from that meditation, weaving the curiously circular tale of the relationship between non-Natives and Natives in the centuries since the two first encountered each other.

For decades Americans were vaguely aware that Islamist barbarians were in the deserts of the Middle East and in the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan, executing "infidels" and raiding villages with unrecognizable names. The Muslim world seemed far away, remote, and irrelevant to our daily lives. Then came the terrorist attack of 9/11, followed by attacks at Fort Hood, the Boston Marathon, San Bernandino, Orlando, and more. Now terrorists seem to be emerging everywhere, unleashing senseless death and destruction on our nation.

Assata Shakur's trial and conviction for the murder of a white State Trooper in the spring of 1973 divided America. Her case quickly became emblematic of race relations and police brutality in the USA. While Assata's detractors continue to label her a ruthless killer, her defenders cite her as the victim of a systematic, racist campaign.

As a 14-year-old, he was Malcolm Little, the president of his class and a top student. At 16, he was hustling tips at a Boston nightclub. In Harlem, he was known as Detroit Red, a slick street operator. At 19, he was back in Boston, leading a gang of burglars. At 20, he was in prison. It was in prison that Malcolm Little started the journey that would lead him to adopt the name Malcolm X, and there he developed his beliefs about what being Black means in America: beliefs that shook America then and still shake America today.

In this groundbreaking history of the modern American metropolis, Richard Rothstein explodes the myth that America's cities came to be racially divided through de facto segregation - that is, through individual prejudices, income differences, or the actions of private institutions like banks and real estate agencies. Rather, he incontrovertibly makes clear that it was de jure segregation - the laws and policy decisions passed by local, state, and federal governments - that actually promoted the discriminatory patterns that continue to this day.

Republicans are wolves democrats are foxes
Thank you audible for making so many titles free to listen to. When listening to this I am reminded of just how much of Malcolm X we didn't get exposed to. I understand that his agenda was focused on his people and that was appropriate. I am just an average blue collar white American and as I listen I see that what he says about black America also applies to blue collar America of which most of black America is part of. This is the truth the ruling elite is the problem that Malcolm X is illumitaning if you're not a member of the club they exploit you. Racism is a state of mind that has nothing to do with skin color it's a specific way of looking at other people. This is power work and I don't resonate with all of it but in 2021 as our government moves us all into the Orwellian Nightmare what we all need that are not in the club is to connect with the righteous fury that was Malcolm X. If you stick a 9" knife in my back and then pull it back 6" the knife is STILL IN MY Back how dare you tell me what a favor you have done for me by pulling back 6". We are being forced into a civil war it was no different in Malcolm's X time the ruling elite takes and takes and takes until you can't back up any longer our backs are to the wall and we won't be volunteering for this authoritarian nightmare so I the question is what side will you be on?

Wow. Loved learning this side of many stories that have been twisted a million different ways.
I’m grateful to have lietrned to this book. It gives me a new pence through which to view the Civil Rights Movement and it’s leaders, what some Black people wanted in the early 1960s, the role of the church and why I’d never understood the embrace of it by enslaved people (it was straight-up
manipulation, plus, where else and when else did they have a chance to sit for a bit without having some overseer beating them? Wow. The bill of goods we’ve all been sold in history books, the mainstream media and at every turn by Conservatives and Liberals alike. I am a white woman in my sixties who, as a child in the Georgia, hated the way Black people were treated and could not square what we learned in church with how people were treated. “Jesus loves the little children” and all those words shared in songs but not acted on, as per my interpretation, by his followers.
I loved Malcom X’s treatise on history and why it is so important for us all to learn our history, but especially why it is imperative that Black people dig into their history. Learning about Islam was fascinating. The origin of white men. The creation story from the Koran. The belief that while people are the devil and are evil incarnate, the manipulation of enslaved people to teach them, in hymns and and at all turns, to hate themselves so they could better be controlled by whites, how The March on Washington in 1963 was co-opted by white leaders. Perception is reality and I know these are the perceptions and shared realities of Malcom X. AND I believe they are absolutely vital listening to better understand the arc of history. Our inability to forgive and love ourselves prevents us from seeing that we are all part of a whole that stays in turmoil because of gross systemic inequality, oppression, racism. These talks are 60 years old. How can we still be in the same situation 60 years later? What could have happened had Malcom X not been shot? I want to know more. Reading recommendations welcomed!

Prolific
Malcolm was and is still one of the most influential and charismatic black leaders our people have ever seen. His words still resonate loudly and clearly. They make one resolute in his decisions and actions.

Powerful read
I strongly recommend everyone to listen to this audio. Words spoken in this read were powerful and truthful. I’ve learned more about Black history than in this book that I’ve ever been taught in white america. I’m so ashamed to be born on this continent. I will not consider myself to be American again. But a woman of color. Brown woman with Aztec roots. I’m going to listen to it again. I am intrigued to learn more about Malcom X, the honorable Elijah Muhammad and The Nation of Islam.
