Publisher's summary

The untold fact is that relying on traditional VC/angel groups for startup funding doesn't work, but now, there's a better way. The Evergreen Startup presents a radical new approach that dramatically diversifies the sources of capital and types of investments available to an early-stage startup. It has been used in the real world by hundreds of founders to raise many millions of dollars.

About the author: The Evergreen method is developed by a practicing entrepreneur who has lead multiple startups from zero to millions in revenue and millions in funding (including raising millions through various forms of crowdfunding). His work has appeared on the cover of Time magazine (named a top invention of 2019), has been the subject of mini-documentaries by the Discovery Channel and CNN's Great Big Story, and appeared on ABC's Shark Tank. He currently teaches this Evergreen framework at the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge, where he is also the vice-chair of the board of directors.

Praise for The Evergreen Startup:

"Leading one of the oldest entrepreneurial-support organizations in the world, the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge, I know that what startups need help with most is raising money. Unfortunately, I also know that the reality is pretty grim when it comes to investment - with most of the funding continually going to the same types of people and the same types of ideas. The Evergreen Startup tackles this problem head-on with brilliant insights and tools that provide founders with a far more complete funding approach - especially empowering first-time founders with bold ideas. With the Evergreen method, startups also have the tools to diversify their investors and even thrive when traditional funding sources dry up - as they have with the 2020 global pandemic. I highly recommend The Evergreen Startup to every early-stage entrepreneur." (Katja Wald, Executive Director, MIT Enterprize Forum of Cambridge)

Must read for entrepreneurs in the post-Covid and crowdfunding world

If you’re starting a new company in today’s post-Covid world this book makes so much sense. I’m re-listening to the audio book and ordered the paperback in order to of reference some of the details. This book was written by an actual Entrepreneur who has achieved success in the start up industry and he reveals how to avoid the trials, tribulations and pitfalls that inevitably come when funding your start up. It’s like he knows all the tricks in the books of the shark VC’s and he’s here to make those tricks visible — TO HELP YOU OUT. This book is helpful to society and to all scrappy entrepreneurs looking for traditional and innovative ways to fund themselves such as crowdfunding.
