Publisher's summary

My life is a friggin’ fairytale - just not the kind any single girl would ever want to star in.

Laney

Like any good heroine, I have challenges to face. Getting my son to wear pants is one; dealing with my snooze-fest of a job is another. Then there’s the Beast, my freeloading brother who’s worn a permanent dent in the couch at my new place. And no fairytale would be complete without a smoking-hot prince, of course. Too bad he’s a complete ass.

My instincts scream at me to steer clear of Nate Murphy. Because, if life has taught me anything, there is no such thing as "happily ever after".

Nate

I may not be a superhero, but I do my best to come to the rescue when I’m needed. And, hey, I just moved halfway across the country after a single phone call from my mom. But being back home and taking on the responsibilities involved makes me a bit cranky at times. Unfortunately, the one time I completely lose my cool is in front of the hottest girl I’ve ever met. I’ve got my work cut out for me if I’m going to fix this. But I will fix this. I’ll be anything Laney Monroe needs me to be...a superhero, a prince, or just a guy she might take a chance on.

Laugh out loud funny!

This story was short and full of laughs! Laney and Nate's story is a little over the top and laugh out loud funny! The situations that Laney finds herself in, well, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. These two meet in a very unconventional way. Nothing like blasting your brother's boss, but boy did it charm the pants off of Nate! This book has witty banter and fun characters. It was a good read!

The narrator did a great job with bringing these characters to life. She made me laugh out loud numerous times!

The Fix

The Fix was a fun rom com. It was sweet and sexy and a nice beginning to a new series. I loved both Laney and Nate and their friends and family. I also loved that we got a dual point of view. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Alice Wander did really well bringing the story to life although there were times I wasn't sure which character was doing the talking. She did a great job with the voice of Rocco. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

CUTE AS A CAROLINA ACCENT

THE FIX is the first book in the Carolina Connections series. Though each is intended to stand alone, they will be better enjoyed as a continuing series in the order of release.

Laugh-out-loud funny, but down to earth real as well. This is a story about how real people meet and interact. How they argue, banter, tease, and love.

The writing is upbeat and romantic. This is not looking for high drama, even while looking at home safety, single motherhood, family commitments, and love in all of its forms (family, friends, and lovers). This is the author’s first book, and I am looking forward to seeing her grow in her career.

Narration: I’ve lived in North Carolina and South Carolina. Alice Wander sounds just like my old neighbors!

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Good book

This is a wonderful, witty romance. I loved the chemistry between Laney and Nate. I also liked the reality that not all families are perfect, but they stand by each other. There was some conflict between Laney and her brother. This is a book you do not want to miss.

Hilarious, sweet, steamy listen!

Laney and Nate are adorable. Neither of them expects to meet someone who fills the empty spaces in their hearts.

Nate is charmed by her spunk, her child, her odd tendencies and her curves. She is drawn to him and discovers he's a hot guy who is grumbly but sweet and so caring. They're both on unfamiliar territory. I love his plan to work his way into her life. Their families add to it. Loved it all.

I enjoyed the narrator although I think the story would have benefited from a male narrator.

Love Fix

A single mom with an unsocialized son meets a man of "construction". All the ups and downs have just the right amount of humor to keep the story upbeat. I was gifted this from the author.
