Publisher's summary

Tilly Barton can’t wait for Christmas - it’s her favorite time of the year. Her seafaring husband, Ray, is due home any moment now. Soon, she’ll be baking gingerbread and decorating the tree with her three young children.

But, everything changes when Ray is tragically lost at sea. Tilly finds herself a widow with three little ones to think of in the brutality of a London winter. They’re cast into a turmoil of hardship, with Tilly struggling and scraping to keep her little family alive.

Christmases come and go, bringing little joy with them. As Tilly fights to survive the harsh streets of London, she has only one hope left: the light in Micah Connoly’s smile. Yet, even his love can’t drown out their terrible poverty - and the uncertainty around Tilly’s legal marital status. And, each year, a sinister enemy creeps closer and closer; an enemy who could take everything Tilly is fighting so hard to protect...

Enjoyed

This was a good story. A bit sad and desperate at times... but of course, that is how the Author intended it. As always, Good overcomes evil. It was a fun listen.

A Love worth waiting for

When Tilly learns her husband is lost at sea, she knows a hard time’s are ahead. When she goes to the company where her husband worked looking for relief. Little did she know she was only adding to her problem and catching the attention of a man that wouldn’t be told no. Her and her three children struggle from day today mainly eating only one meal or stale bread each day. It isn’t until her children fall sick, that a little sunshine comes into her life. It comes in the form of Michael Connelly. Whip sympathetic brown eyes and black curly hair, Tilly is smitten from the beginning. She was evicted soon after and had no way of knowing how to contact him. So one day at her new job the cooks sent her next-door to see about getting a pot fixed and there he was. Mica instantly made her feel happy and seem to make every bleak notion in her life a little bit better. When he found out three men who were lost at sea had been found and hoping her husband was alive, but dreading it at the same time. She went to the docs only to find her husband there. Once again although she was happy he was alive, she knew deep down she didn’t feel for him what she felt for Mica. Wilsee ever see him again and came to live with her husband and walk him the way she should? This is such a good book and I thought the new narrator was awesome! I think he brought a credibility with his deep silky voice and great character distinction to this audiobook. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves us Great Christmas story and love historical romance. This is the book for you.
