About this listen
Recruited by an ancient race, a group of people from Earth colonize the lovely planet Ose in a far corner of the galaxy. Thirty-two years after the Founders settle the unanticipated happens. A small asteroid hits on the edge of the continent instantly throwing them into a "nuclear winter" weather pattern. Struggling to survive, the young culture slips ever nearer to a survival-of-the-fittest world.
In this climate of hardship, Marisily comes of age. She flees for her life after watching her mother die. Unexpectedly, she discovers the cave in which she seeks refuge was a hidden Ancient's shelter and the secrets within it reveal that she is a sage: a small group of seemingly unrelated people with heightened extra senses that are strangely linked to the planet itself.
The conditions reach dangerous levels as more citizens become victims of the outlaw bands. Marisily struggles to stay safe when she is targeted for slavery. A clandestine plan is devised to take back the society and reestablish the founding culture. Can they do it in time?

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

The Founders of a good book!
The Founders: Sage Seed Chronicles, Volume 1 by Holly Barbo is a good Sci-Fi & Fantasy book. It is about a group of people from Earth colonize the lovely planet Ose, and we follow them. There are small things that irritates me about this book, but not more then that i am excited about for maybe reading more in this series!
Maxine Lennon reads this "roller coaster way", with her voice going a bit up and down a bit more then i like to get a perfect score! 8 hrs and 13 mins with Maxine Lennon is still good, and i do like her voice, but it is not perfect at all!

Intriguing Story but Anti-Climactic
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I would not say that is was or was not. The story is mind provoking and interesting but the book ends before something grand happens.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Founders?
Chapter 1!!
What three words best describe Maxine Lennon’s performance?
Beautiful. Fun. Character Voiceless
Did The Founders inspire you to do anything?
No
Any additional comments?
I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the publisher in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com.The book overall was interesting to listen to. I thought that the story has a very good base but the author does not build on her characters but one. Also there is a lack of description in the book about the surroundings which I enjoy. I felt that the book went by too quickly and not enough happened. I look forward to the next installment with the hope that there will be more information or a resolution.

Promising storyline
Women might enjoy it better than I did, but it's female voice is just too much for me. I quit after the first chapter thinking there was too much male bashing. Giving it a second chance I read 30% and couldn't continue. I never found the plot or conflict.

Not my cup of tea
I like books with vivid characters that I can identify with. The main character seemed very bland, and the others are thin as well. So when the desperate young woman finds the little hideout with geothermal heat and everything she could want it felt rather contrived. Then she surprisingly finds out she has the ability to make psychic contact with birds - and the bird turns out to be a really nice bird who understands her vocabulary and everything. This bird even goes out and kills another bird to bring home for dinner. I guess that other bird wasn't as cool.
I'm giving up on this book - it seems like it is going to mostly about eco-this and eco-that and gender equality. I'm all for these things but I don't want to continue listening because it seems silly and I'm bored. I gave the story three stars because the writing is not terrible, and some may enjoy it, just not me.

Excellent Worldbuilding
I loved the blend of fantasy myth and some light scifi, sort of a "low-fi fantasy." The concept of sages went well with the sort of downtrodden society. I also really liked the fact that sages had to conceal themselves.
The story began bleak enough that I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue, but I'm glad I did. At first it seemed like every male character was an unfeeling monster, but as the story went on that changed when more guys were introduced. My favorite parts were the descriptions of the tech and sage abilities. At few times I got some of the characters mixed up, but finally sorted them enough to follow the story again. This would often happen after longer segments of information rather than narrative.
Maxine Lennon did a fine job of reading the The Founders.
