A grieving young widow, Charlene needed a new start - so she bought a historic mansion, sight unseen, and drove from Chicago to New England to start turning it into a bed-and-breakfast. On her first night in the house, she awakens to find a handsome man with startling blue eyes in her bedroom. Terror turns to utter disbelief when he politely introduces himself as Jack Strathmore - and explains that he used to live here - when he was alive. Story
My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails. Then Selene showed up. According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy ten-pound cat with a broken filter. She fancies herself something of a saber-toothed tiger, and claims to have wrestled the thread of her ninth life from the hands of the Fates themselves—although, I'm pretty sure that last part isn't true. Almost positive.

Christmas in Winterspell means ice skating, hot cocoa by the barrel, and frosted gingerbread houses. I was almost looking forward to it. The merriment screeches to a halt when two elves show up, claiming to have been sent by Santa himself, on a mission to track down an ancient grimoire. A grimoire with the power of Christmas itself woven through the pages. Without it, Christmas isn't happening, and Santa himself is in grave danger. Could Winterspell hold the key to saving Christmas?

Story
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Marrying the wealthy and handsome Randall Coulson isn’t something she wants to do, but, being an obedient daughter, she agrees to the marriage. Randall Coulson wants Mary Ellen for one reason: to give him sons. He has no desire to form a bond of love or friendship with his young bride. His own heart is already taken. This bittersweet story of love, lies, and family secrets takes place during a turbulent period of American history, where the perception of women and their role in society changed during one lifetime.

Story
A grieving young widow, Charlene needed a new start - so she bought a historic mansion, sight unseen, and drove from Chicago to New England to start turning it into a bed-and-breakfast.

Zoey Rivers has an unusual job. She's the Chief of Staff at a retirement home, which doesn't sound odd on its own, but when you consider it's a retirement home for witches and other paranormals, the strange factor ratchets up. And, with a facility full of partly senile but still powerful witches, things go hilariously awry fast.

Incorrect voices used by narrator
The narrator kept using the wrong voices for regular characters. It was confusing hearing one character while the voice was associated with a different one. It happened frequently.

Holmes ROCKS!!!
Write faster! Each novel in this series has been better than the previous! Wholesome, comedic, paranormal mysteries describe the stories. Definitely a favorite author for me. Holmes found a good narrator and stuck with her from one novel to the next which is definitely a plus!

Great story, left it open for more fodder opportunities. Some narratives high pitched and squeaky. Overall great book. My favorite series so far.
