About this listen

What was my sister doing standing over Florence’s cot in the middle of the night?

I trust my sister, Carrie, with my daughter’s life.

But then she’s accused of a terrible crime.

Carrie lives under our roof, she pushes my daughter on the swings, she takes her out for ice cream.

You might ask, why do I let her? Why would I risk my darling baby? How could I let my sister stay?

Because I have a dangerous secret, too. One that only Carrie knows about. And if that secret gets out, I could lose my little girl....

A completely gripping rollercoaster of a listen about the darkness families hide behind closed doors. Fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train will be hooked on The Girl She Wanted.

K.L. Slater

I love the books I’ve listened to by K.L. Slater. They have a little of everything in it, suspense, drama, thrill, comedy. Her books keep you on your toes, and keep you guessing. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of her books.

A Wild Ride

This is a great story with lots of twists and turns. I thought I had it all figured out but I was so wrong and never saw what was coming. I was worried I wouldn't like the narrator because of the 1st 5 minutes but she is great. I stayed up all night listening to this book!

My Thoughts

I struggled with the stupidity of the main character in caring for her daughter. The narrator's voice was very annoying. The story was well done.

Excellent

I really enjoyed this book, which had an interesting twist at the end, and interesting reasons for the twist. The only reason it’s not a five is because it did get a little slow through the middle. But I really enjoyed it a lot.

Great book, title doesn’t match

I’ve read nearly all of K.L Slater’s books now and I’ll keep reading them if you keep writing them. The title didn’t make sense at the end, made it seem like the sister kidnapped or coveted the baby. Also, naming the sister Carrie and the hubby Perry was super confusing for no reason. That bit was irritating lol but the book was great!!

Well Done!

The new KL Slater was of course, listened to voraciously in one night by yours truly. A fan of her work, I find most of her audiobooks impossible to stop listening to. This was no exception.

Wife and husband have one year old baby. Wife's sister is outstaying her welcome as a guest of the household. Wife's sister seems to be in a whole lot of trouble. And things aren't looking up for her at all.

KL Slater is maturing as a writer. If you read her newer books, you'll find a lot more character development, and many more facets to the mystery. The twists are surprising and the characters are likable. The only criticism I have is that she lets the story drag on too long. There are too many chapters in 'The Girl She Wanted' which have been written after the denouement. However, it's a very enjoyable book nonetheless.

Great stuff!

Not my favorite Slater boom but not bad

I believe this is a different narrator than I'm used too. Also not my favorite. I prefer Lucy Price-Lewis. The last chapter is unnecessary.
