Story
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

Story
Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

To the wider world, Al Pacino exploded onto the scene like a supernova. He landed his first leading role, in The Panic in Needle Park, in 1971, and by 1975, he had starred in four movies—The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon—that were not just successes but landmarks in the history of film. Those performances became legendary and changed his life forever. Not since Marlon Brando and James Dean in the late 1950s had an actor landed in the culture with such force.

The potential for gargantuan reframing
Although many people think that stoicism is a kind of pushing down and bottling up of emotions and not expressing anything, it’s actually not that at all. In fact, it invokes an urge to get in touch with oneself and question life’s great mysteries.
Steve Allayev present listeners with the classic stoic principals (ancient self-awareness approaches to what were potentially once overwhelming emotions–anger, stress, and such), but also give listeners the tools to approach life with a powerful new outlook that has the potential to reframe basically everything we do.

Loved this!
What a great message this audiobook delivers—stoicism for modern times. When I am feeling out of control and overwhelmed by all the stress with my job and family life, I often listen to this audiobook on the way home in the car. It gives me great perspective, and the quotes and wisdom of stoicism always ring true and make me realize I need to focus on myself and being strong—not waste my time and energy on things I cannot control.
