Unique Take on Alien Symbiosis

This story was a refreshing look at the concept of symbiosis with an alien life form. Following the alien's journey to find the perfect host was fascinating and emotionally engaging. The way the alien struggles and learns through different life forms was beautifully told. Definitely a unique and captivating sci-fi!

Short, fun sci-fi book

My rating: 4 stars
Audiobook narrator Christopher M. Allport rating: 4 stars

This was another fun short story by Ray Jay Perreault. It had a similar feel to Progeny in that the reader is purposely kept in the dark but completely revealed in a somewhat-comedic way at the end. This lightened the tone and made the book more enjoyable.

It seems that there are not a lot of suitable planets to live on according to this book. All of the ‘hosts’ of the different planets in which the mists travel to end up in some cataclysmic turmoil!

Some people agree that this would be a great novel if it were elongated into an extended edition. I felt that it was the appropriate length (with plenty of Science) and did great with the short length of this book.

The narrator did a good job of reading this book. I look forward to future books from Ray Jay Perreault.

Way too short

I thought this story was too short to cover the topic presented. Good idea but needed a longer story. I hope he can expand this idea into a good novel or at least a novella.
Did not like the generic presentation of the story. Ray has used this style in other stories with the same results. The reveal at the end was anti climatic and made for an abrupt ending.

Delightful perspective..

What made the experience of listening to The Greatest Host the most enjoyable?

What made this short story wonderful was the whole time I was trying to guess what the host was.. adorable very adorable!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Greatest Host?

when the subservient host quickly wrapped up the waste... made me laugh out loud.

What about Christopher M. Allport’s performance did you like?

Big fan for Mr. Allport's narrating, he definitely brought the story alive.

Who was the most memorable character of The Greatest Host and why?

Jonathan of course!!

Any additional comments?

I actually went back and listened to the story 4 times and each time I chuckle a little more because I picked up something I didn't the last time. I hate to spoil the story for anyone since it's only 14 minutes long. Love it!!!

Okay

BOOK REVIEW.....
A very short sci-fi story of an alien life form called the Mists that travels around searching for life forms to inhabit. I think it could make a good full length book if built upon.

AUDIO REVIEW......
The narrator did a fairly good job narrating the story. However he sounded more like a teacher giving a lecture rather then someone telling a story. He could have used more feeling put into it.

The Greatest Host

Not necessarily my favorite short story, but worth a listen nonetheless. Good story for as short as it is, and narrator good as well.
