The Life of John Wesley Hardin, Jesse James: The Life Times and Treacherous Death of the Most Infamous Outlaw of All Time, A Cowboy Detective: A True Story of Twenty-Two Years with a World Famous Detective Agency, A Texas Ranger, Life and Adventures of Nat Love, Better Known in the Cattle Country as "Deadwood Dick", and Six Years with the Texas Rangers
The Gunmen of the American Wild West Collection brings to life the history of the frontier west of the Mississippi in the latter parts of the 19th century. The gunmen ranged from lawmen to cowboys, ranchers, and outlaws. Most of the outlaws in the Old West preyed on banks, trains, and stagecoaches. Although spread thin, the law was present, usually on the level of deputy US marshal, county sheriff, and the town marshal or constable.
Book one: The Life of John Wesley Hardin. Hardin was an average man - except for his above-average gunfighting. A Texan sympathizer to slavery writes about his deeds, some of which were commendable while others were downright deplorable. These memoirs of the outlaw and controversial folk icon was published the year after his death in 1896.
Book two: Jesse James: The Life Times and Treacherous Death of the Most Infamous Outlaw of All Time. Jesse James was a guerrilla during the Civil War and afterward pursued a criminal career that lasted more than a decade. Frank Triplett’s biography discusses every one of the robberies and acts of violence that the legendary outlaw and his gang perpetrated. The book is riveting and provides comprehensive coverage of the James Gang’s infamous crime spree.
Book three: A Texas Ranger. Napoleon Augustus Jennings was a prominent member of the Texas Rangers responsible for border patrol under the command of L.H. McNelly, when Southern Texas was being overrun by outlaws. Jennings' account includes many incidents of clashes with Mexican guerrillas and confrontations with John Wesley Hardin and others.
Book four: A Cowboy Detective: A True Story of Twenty-Two Years with a World Famous Detective Agency by Charlie Siringo. Siringo was a Texas detective who posed as a cowboy, miner, man-on-the-run, hobo, or whatever identity was needed to get to the bottom of criminal enterprises. He infiltrated unions, criminal gangs, and businesses to expose criminal activity.
Book five: Six Years with the Texas Rangers. James Gillett joined the rangers in 1875 and for the next six years he would be challenging criminals, fighting in the Mason County War, capturing vigilantes, and maintaining law and order in the towns. Gillett describes the kinds of action that established the Rangers' enduring reputation.

In July 1865, "Wild Bill" Hickok shot and killed Davis Tutt in Springfield, Mo., - the first quick-draw duel on the frontier. Thus began the reputation that made him a marked man to every gunslinger the Wild West. The legend of Wild Bill has only grown since his death in 1876, when cowardly Jack McCall famously put a bullet through the back of his head during a card game. Best-selling author Tom Clavin has sifted through years of Western lore to bring Hickock fully to life in this rip-roaring, spellbinding true story.

With enduring wit, he tells the tale of long cattle drives, small-town beauties, meetings with Billy the Kid, and growing up on the Texas frontier. In plain language you'll hear what it was like to live on the "hurricane deck of a Spanish pony" for months on end, earning enough to head into town and have a good time. Steve Wiegand takes listeners across the post-Civil War Wild West in his 1876: The Year of the Gun. Wiegand introduces—or reintroduces—us to lawmen such as Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp and outlaws such as the Younger and James Brothers, as well as larger-than-life figures such as Buffalo Bill and George Custer. Juxtaposing their real lives with the often-outlandish accounts of their exploits, 1876 swings from lighthearted humor to cliff-hanger suspense. It also portrays how the Wild West’s initial, tantalizing promise of fame and glamour often disintegrated.

Wyatt Earp is regarded as the most famous lawman of the Old West, best known for his role in the Gunfight at the OK Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. But the story of his two-year war with a band of outlaws known as the Cowboys has never been told in full. The Cowboys were the largest outlaw gang in the history of the American West. After battles with the law in Texas and New Mexico, they shifted their operations to Arizona. There, they ruled the border, robbing, rustling, smuggling, and killing with impunity until they made the fatal mistake of tangling with the Earp brothers.

In turbulent 1870s Texas, the revered and fearless Ranger Leander McNelly led his men in one dramatic campaign after another, throwing cattle thieves, desperadoes, border ruffians, and other dangerous criminals into jail or, if that's how they wanted it, six feet under. They would stop at nothing in pursuit of justice, even sending 26 Rangers across the border to retrieve stolen cattle—taking on hundreds of Mexican troops with nothing but their Sharps rifles and six-guns. The nation came to call them “McNelly’s Rangers.”

Many of the most well-known lawmen of the American Wild West had multiple criminal charges to their name. Some were murderers, some were thieves, and many were corrupt - in fact, sometimes it was difficult to tell who was on which side of the law. Cowboys and Native Americans, robbers and sheriffs, courageous lawmen, opportunistic prospectors, frustrated Confederate soldiers turned outlaws after the war - the Wild West was filled with all of these. And their stories are breathtaking.

In 1992, the deadliest year in Chicago’s history, seven-year-old Dantrell Davis was shot and killed in front of his elementary school inside the public housing complex Cabrini-Green. What happened to Dantrell led to a truce among Chicago’s gangs, but it also ignited a national panic about poverty and violence in America’s cities. Dantrell’s name would soon be used to demolish all of Chicago’s high-rise public housing, displacing tens of thousands of low-income families.

Story
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Story
Toys and games have long been a part of childhood, but the 20th century saw the rise of an entire industry devoted to the business of play, one that would constantly evolve over the years. In the six lectures of The History of Toys, 1900 to the Present, consultant and toy industry expert Chris Byrne—also known as The Toy Guy®—will take you on a journey through the world of toys from the Edwardian era to our current moment. Beginning with the birth of the mass-market toy industry, you’ll trace the many transformations of toys and our shifting theories of play and childhood development.

Very weak narration
That's all I got to say about that. More words to meet the minimum. The end.

Horrible narration
The narrators for half the books are pretty horrible. They used got an Irish/English guy to narrate a Texas ranger book. Then the narrator for Nat Love sounds like a mentally handicapped 5-year-old. Lastly, the narrator for Jesse James puts you to sleep. Way to go guys you ruined some ruined classic narratives.
