About this listen

Some say titans are descended from giants. Others say they are risen from men. But there’s never any debate about where to find them. They will be in the center of a roaring crowd, beating the hell out of each other.

From contenders like the Savage and Scott Flawless to pretenders like Richard the Living Portrait and Troll-Blooded Thom, a titan’s lot in life is the same: to wrestle for dominion and glory in the squared circle.

Van, a quiet titan from the brewery town of Headwaters, wants no part in this. He’d prefer to be left alone with a beer. But destiny has him in a headlock, and it is prepared to drag him into battles that will shake the land and change his world forever.

Step into the ring with this one-of-a-kind novel, brewed special for fans of epic fantasy, fans of professional wrestling from the Golden Era and beyond, or simply fans of a good tale. Narrated by Sean Slater.

Fantasy and Pro-Wrestling Finally Collide

The unfortunate truth of being a wrestling fan is that we just don’t get good fiction when it comes to any medium outside of the shows themselves. We get memoirs, we get autobiographies, we get shoot interviews, but we don’t get novels, short stories, or anything that could even be mistaken as quality literature. It’s something we’ve come to understand and begrudgingly accept over time. Samuel Gately sought to change this when he authored Headlock of Destiny and he did exactly what he aimed to do. As incompatible as fantasy and professional wrestling seem to be on the surface, Gately pieces together a novel that is equal parts fun and engaging while slyly penning a love letter to the squared circle. This book is just as fun of an adventure if you’re not a wrestling fan but if you are a wrestling fan, there are easter eggs galore to feast upon that reference the manly soap opera that we’ve grown to love. I would recommend this to anybody that wants a break from the typical formulaic fantasy novel and I would double recommend it to fans of the greatest spectacle on earth, Pro-wrestling.

rare genre

considering there aren't alot of choices for wrestling fans outside of memiors or history books, this was a good alternative. took a bit to get interesting, but once the ball gets rolling uts worth the read.
