In this recording, Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh lectures on the Heart of the Prajñaparamita Sutra, which is regarded as the essence of Buddhist teachings. To this day, the Heart Sutra is recited daily in Mahayana temples and practice centers throughout the world. Thay, as his followers call him, offered this lecture at Green Gulch Farm in Muir Beach, California, on April 19, 1987.

I had read the commentary of Heart Sutra by Thich Nhat Nanh before and it is one of the most useful teachings that I had ever encountered on the Heart Sutra. How I wish I can meet him in real life, but I know it is impossible.

Hence, when I chance upon this audio book, I am so happy! In light of emptiness or inter-being, I felt that I was in the same venue together with Thich Nhat Hanh and the other members of the audience when I listened to this recording.

He is able to use a very down to earth approach to explain a complicated topic such as the Heart Sutra. To my surprise, he is also a humorous person. I am really happy to be part of this journey and I hope that you will also embark on the journey to the other shore. Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha!
