THE USA TODAY BESTSELLER!

"A clever, sinister fun-house ride."–People

"Jaw-dropping."–Riley Sager

"Hugely readable and tremendous fun."–Alex Michaelides

A Hitchcock fanatic with an agenda invites old friends for a weekend stay at his secluded themed hotel in this fiendishly clever, suspenseful new novel from the international bestselling author of Darling Rose Gold.

Alfred Smettle is not your average Hitchcock fan. He is the founder, owner, and manager of The Hitchcock Hotel, a sprawling Victorian house in the White Mountains dedicated to the Master of Suspense. There, Alfred offers his guests round-the-clock film screenings, movie props and memorabilia in every room, plus an aviary with fifty crows.

To celebrate the hotel’s first anniversary, he invites his former best friends from his college Film Club for a reunion. He hasn’t spoken to any of them in sixteen years, not after what happened.

But who better than them to appreciate Alfred’s creation? And to help him finish it.

After all, no Hitchcock set is complete without a body.

Critic reviews

"[T]his locked-room mystery contains masterful pacing, with suspense built around the identity of the victim and then the discovery of the killer. Wrobel's third novel (after This Might Hurt, 2022) artfully blends suspense with mystery, tying in quotes from Hitchcock as well as research about his work that will be intriguing to Hitchcock amateurs and aficionados alike."Booklist (starred review)

"Wrobel deftly juggles seven point-of-view characters, finding and harnessing their unique voices with practiced ease."Kirkus

“Sometimes, you come across a title that tells you you’re going to love what’s going on inside the book, and Stephanie Wrobel’s The Hitchcock Hotel is one such case.”CrimeReads

Dear Listener,

What inspired me to center this story around the fanbase of Alfred Hitchcock?
"In college, I took a film studies class with a professor named Dr. Scott. (If you’ve already listened to the audiobook, this should sound familiar!) There, I was introduced to Hitchcock’s work when we watched North by Northwest. I’ve been fascinated by the director—and his impact on the genre—ever since. The prospect of doing a deep dive into his movies and life, all in the name of book research, excited me. A writer’s job is rarely glamorous, but sometimes it’s exactly as fun as it sounds."– Stephanie Wrobel, writer of The Hitchcock Hotel

Not for me

I love Hitchcock and the cover attracts me. Not for me but others loved it

I liked it

The only reason I did not give this a five star rating is I guessed the murderer early on, however, I truly enjoyed the conclusion. Definitely entertaining.

Nice Twists and Turns

The was a great read. There are many twists and turns to keep you guessing as you get to know the people gathered for a college reunion. Who is guilt, and of what? Who is suspicious about what and about whom?

Hitchcock would make it a movie

Very good story with characters that you learn to dislike. It is a good mystery story but not scary and not too atmospheric. There are many twists and turns so stick with it. Hitch would have made a movie better than the book.

The Hitchcock theme

I loved the many twists that were totally not anticipated. All of the characters were well developed by the end.

Hitch lives!

This was like watching a Hitchcock movie. If you love his movies, you will love this book. Narration was good, but not excellent. Off to watch Rope or Rear Window or Dial M for Murder now!
