About this listen

Gary Karkofsky, a.k.a. Merciless: The Supervillain Without MercyTM, has decided to give up supervillainy and embrace the path of righteousness. Unfortunately, he's terrible at it, and no one wants him to be their superheroic protector. That all changes when a talking raven arrives with the perfect quest to make his mark: Rescue the president's daughter from Dracula.

Unfortunately, Gary is being led into a trap. The location of Dracula's castle is in Satan Swamp, which is where Gary suffered one of the few defeats of his life. There's also a camp full of superpowered children, the return of alternate reality allies, a pair of psycho killers in love, and the return of an old enemy.

Enjoy the latest installment of the Supervillainy saga!

This book is off the chain!

Super Villian with a conscience, snarky birds, werewolves, weredeer, zombies, super heros, psyco killers and Dracula thrown in for good measure! I could not have asked for more! I love this series!

Oh the possibilities

Usually when a series gets this long, the stories tend to run dry and repetitive, but here, Gary is by himself a lot of the story. This was a new territory that had yet to be explored. The best aspect of this book is the setting up for the ever expanding universe that the Gary lives in. I cannot wait for future books.

Crazy Situations and Tons of Fun!

What do you do when you want to be a superhero, but you suck at it? Gary Karkofsky, better known as Merciless, the Supervillain without Mercy decides he would be better off as a superhero instead of a villain. His life is a mess – no one wants to be rescued by him, not even his friends or family! However, everything goes into a tailspin when he is asked to save the President’s daughter by none other than a Raven – yes, a Raven, as in a talking bird! Although Merciless is smart, will he figure out the treachery behind this situation? He is aided by friends who are angry with him (he banished them elsewhere) but they come together to defeat …

I love this series! CT Phipps, the author, does a stunning job of creating dialog between the characters and between Gary himself – I love hearing the internal conversations that Gary (aka Merciless) has with himself. The pop culture references are fun as I try to figure out where they come from and catch the slightly twisted reference meanings and how they fit with the situation. I enjoy Jane, the Weredeer immensely as well as Agent G. I enjoy the situations that Gary finds himself and the crazy roundabout ways he gets himself out of them!

Phipps is methodical in his dialog and setting the twists. He brings in characters from his other worlds and makes them relevant for the situation. He excels at world-building as well as character and plot building. Further, he gives the listener some food for thought – specifically the value of family and forgiveness.

Jeffrey Kafer is the narrator who gives a top-notch performance. I am not sure how Kafer gets through some of the dialog out without laughing. Through his voice alone, he can project the self-assuredness and cockiness of Gary, the righteous anger of Diablo man, and the puns from Jane the Weredeer! The listener can see these actions clearly through the writing of Phipps and the performance of Kafer.

If you need a laugh mixed with some suspense and fun – don’t miss this book.

There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook. It was crisp and clear.

Again, CT Phipps is awarded the Audiobookreviewer Choice Award for this book as it deserves a much higher than a 5-star ranking!

The kind of sillyness we need today

You will want this book; You will love this book; You need this book (my ode to TikTok). I look forward to every one of Charles' stories and this one lives up to my every expectation. And Kaffer IS Gary Karkofsky. When I read the books I hear Jeffrey (especially when performing as Cindy) in my mind. These are easily within my short list of audios I would take with me on a desert island.

Funny! Another great addition!

The Horror of Supervillainy
(The Supervillainy Saga #7)
by C.T. Phipps
Narrated by: Jeffrey Kafer

First, read these books in order but do read them! This book is very much like the others in that once you start you have to finish! There's lots of humor, corny and funny puns, and characters that you don't want to invite over to your house but would certainly be fun to know. A crazy world full of Super villains and heroes.

Gary, who has been a life long villain, decides to become a hero. His first exciting job is brought to him by a talking raven. His job is to save a girl from Dracula. Not just any girl either. Some of the favorites characters from the past books appear, that's why you need to read other books, and then chaos ensues.

It would probably ensue anyway with Gary. His wife, girlfriend, a weredeer, old enemies, friends that are now enemies, his daughters from the future, and many more make an appearance. Action and mayhem throughout!

This is a fun, crazy book with great characters, unpredictable plot, with the typical Phipps humor scattered throughout. Imaginative world and plot wins me over every time! I read this book but then offered to listen to it it. Of course I would! Kafer makes the story even funnier! The review is voluntary. I love this crazy world Gary lives in! Recommend highly!
