About this listen
Former bank robber Frank Palmer, now living under the assumed name Mark Cross, has been in hiding from the law for nine years, building a life as a rancher with his adopted son in Redemption, California. But the outlaw's secret life is beginning to unravel. His old gang has started hitting banks and trains without him, creating renewed interest in the whereabouts of Frank Palmer. The aging town sheriff has recognized Palmer but has promised to stay silent if Palmer agrees to put his gun at the service of the law. The Pinkerton Detective Agency is trailing his old gang which is heading in Palmer's direction. Further complicating his life, a new woman in town, mysterious and beautiful, has taken a keen interest in the young rancher and won't stop until she knows everything about him.
This is a continuation of the Frank Palmer stories. It is a complete story and you do not have to listen or read the first book, Redemption: A Western to follow the non-stop action in The Hunt for Frank Palmer.

I am loving this series!
This was another really great Western. I am really enjoying the Frank Palmer Stories. This is the second book in the series, but I think there is room for a book #1.5 because this book takes place several years after the first, and I would love to know more about what happened between Frank and Lisa, as well as see Frank's experience raising a little boy who is half Indian. That being said, this book is engaging, and I would say that it stands alone pretty well - you don't have to read the first book (but why would you want to miss it?) The book abounds with interesting characters and I love that Frank is putting his past to use working for the law. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I listened to the Audible audio version of this book narrated by J. Scott Bennett. Bennett is a great narrator, and he does a great job giving each character a unique voice. His voice really adds to the story.
If you like Westerns, or stories of redemption, I highly recommend this book.

Enjoyed the 2nd and looking for the 3rd!!
Stephen Wilson did an excellent job in the 2nd book of explaining the continued lives of Frank Palmer, Lisa and Chance, but I still feel that the characters and their lives need to have a little more depth given to them. That being said, I was completely enthralled with this story of Frank Palmer and I am definitely looking forward to the next book!! This is also the 2nd book I have listened to with J. Scott Bennett and I am very impressed with him. His narration is full of life and the characters are easy to keep separate simply with the different voices. His is an easy voice to listen to and I will be looking for more books with his narration.
All in all, I definitely recommend this audible.

I love westerns
I love westerns and this is as good. It is just like the classics a great clean read. The narrator does a great job and he uses different voices and that helps identify the characters. I can't wait for the next one. My husband and I listened to it on the way home from vacation and it sure helped the time fly. I did receive this book for free for my unbiased and honest opinion.

LOVE this series
Would you listen to The Hunt for Frank Palmer: A Western Story of Action and Adventure again? Why?
Yes! Because it sucks you in and it makes you feel as if you're right there in the old west.
What did you like best about this story?
Several parts! But I believe the best parts were either when Palmer was behind Colter when he was crawling in the ditch (hilarious) or else when the preacher vouched for Palmer (totally unexpected).
Which character – as performed by J. Scott Bennett – was your favorite?
Frank Palmer, but he did ALL of the voices so well! I love this narrator for this genre. He's perfect for it.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Kept me interested! I laughed in a couple parts but it also made me sad in others. I would really like to see Frank and Lisa back together, but at the same time one of the things that keeps it interesting is knowing that they can't be together, and the fact that they haven't had their happy ending yet is what keeps me hoping that there will be more in this series.
Any additional comments?
I haven't loved a good old western like this since Lonesome Dove. I am crossing my fingers that we will keep getting more of Mr. Palmer.
*I received this audio book by the narrator as a gift with no expectations of a review. Thank you.*

Great Western and Looking Forward to More
THE HUNT FOR FRANK PALMER is an especially good western tale. It has everything one would expect from this genre. This is a story with a likable main character that I look forward to following throughout his adventures. The supporting characters are all excellent as well. The town of Redemption is dusty and somewhat gritty and you really get the feel of the old west. Book two gets even better but this can also be listened to as a stand alone. I wouldn't miss any of them though.
STEPHEN WILSON is a wonderful author and I feel this is going to be an epic.
J. SCOTT BENNETT does a superb job narrating. His voice lends an old west drawl to an already good story making it even better. He has great vocal skills and perfect inflections making this a definite good listen. Recommended listening for any lover of westerns.

Very enjoyable listen
This was an exciting listen that took be back in years when men were men, the dealth with issue with a gun, tipped their hats to women, they worked hard and played harder knew how to drink, fight and above all hold up the law. This years are my favorite of all time, if I could time travel it would be back to the hold west, hard work but so much better than the world today.
The narrator has for a few years become one of my favorite, I know when I see his name it is going to be an exciting listen filled with emotion, passion, he knows how to bring the stories to life as he puts his self into the role of the characters he really brings the story to life. There are no background noise, no volume change, if any breaks were taken I could not tell, it was a very clear audio that is filled with true emotion, energy, compaction, angry and so much more. His male voice are just as good as his female one, he really makes you feel what the characters fill. He never lets me down, I know when I pick up one of his audios I am in for a thrilling ride that I won’t be able to put down.
One man changed his world, just trying to do what he can to help those around him. Yes he did bad things, but he had little choice with no family he fell into the wrong hands that showed him how bad the world could be. I have to respect him for getting out and becoming a wonderful person. The author write this story he really brings the west back to life, I think it even has some true facts in it. He shows pain, sorrow, but still gives it humor and laughter. This is how in my mind I see the past of many years ago, he brings it to life in a touching story of how things were as he gives you a believable story that will touch your heart as it entertains you.
