Publisher's summary

From the author of the New York Times and USA Today best-selling novel The Alice Network comes another fascinating historical novel about a battle-haunted English journalist and a Russian female bomber pilot who join forces to track the Huntress, a Nazi war criminal gone to ground in America.

In the aftermath of war, the hunter becomes the hunted....

Bold and fearless, Nina Markova always dreamed of flying. When the Nazis attack the Soviet Union, she risks everything to join the legendary Night Witches, an all-female night bomber regiment wreaking havoc on the invading Germans. When she is stranded behind enemy lines, Nina becomes the prey of a lethal Nazi murderess known as the Huntress, and only Nina's bravery and cunning will keep her alive.

Transformed by the horrors he witnessed from Omaha Beach to the Nuremberg Trials, British war correspondent Ian Graham has become a Nazi hunter. Yet one target eludes him: a vicious predator known as the Huntress. To find her, the fierce, disciplined investigator joins forces with the only witness to escape the Huntress alive: the brazen, cocksure Nina. But a shared secret could derail their mission unless Ian and Nina force themselves to confront it.

Growing up in post-war Boston, 17-year-old Jordan McBride is determined to become a photographer. When her long-widowed father unexpectedly comes home with a new fiancée, Jordan is thrilled. But there is something disconcerting about the soft-spoken German widow. Certain that danger is lurking, Jordan begins to delve into her new stepmother’s past - only to discover that there are mysteries buried deep in her family...secrets that may threaten all Jordan holds dear.

In this immersive, heart-wrenching story, Kate Quinn illuminates the consequences of war on individual lives, and the price we pay to seek justice and truth.

This audiobook includes an episode of the Book Club Girl Podcast, featuring an interview with Kate Quinn about The Huntress.

AMAZING

This was truly an amazing book. The performance was wonderful, the story was enticing and interesting. I would highly recommend this book to any Historical Fiction WW2 lovers.

To comment on some of the negative comments:

The “lesbian sex scene” when explained barely reaches 3rd base- I thought it was going to be super explicit after reading the comments but it was so mild and vanilla.

As far as the book being “predictable”, in my opinion it becomes a little more predictable at the end when the story starts to come together. But I find that that is how a good book should be. All of the pieces from the book coming together to show your own predictions, then it happening.

Overall, I really loved this book and would listen to it again some day.

Excellent historical fiction

I was looking forward to this book, as I loved the Alice Network, and I thought the narrator did a tremendous job, and I was happy to see they kept the same narrator. The narrator does very well with the different accents, and I kept thinking I was glad I was listening and not reading the book - I never would have been able to keep the Russian names and references straight in my head. This book did not disappoint. I like the point of view told by the three different characters, and I thought it was truly on the edge of your seat material, trying to figure out how they all wove together in the end. I loved the story line, and its brutal honesty of the time period. Can't say enough good things about this audiobook, but the greatest recommendation I can give, is that if you loved the Alice Network, you will love this as well. Looking forward to more novels from Kate Quinn!

Not quite the intrigue of the Alice Network,

the story was interesting as it's intertwined Russians Americans British and Germans. It was not the wonderful Intrigue of the Alice Network. That was a real work of art

Perfection

Must listen. Even better than Alice Network. I’d love this to become a series. Only complaint is that I doubt Jordon’s name would have been Jordon in Boston during the 1940s and 1950s.

Good until the last couple chapters

I loved this book, the story and the character but the last couple of chapters were boring and a bit disappointing. Still worth reading.

Little slow moving

I thought this was a good book but slow moving at times. I would recommend if you are undecided.

One of my favorites this year!

I loved this novel. I, like so many, love WWII historical novels. It’s so important to never forget the atrocities surrounding the Holocaust... so that we can work hard not to repeat the past. The novelist had such strong, well-written female characters wrapped up in a story that I was quick to devour.
