Scrooge is looking for a taxi

Dickens meets I, Robot in this sci-fi retelling of a classic story.

In this modern retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is looking for a taxi to get home on Christmas Eve. But he will get the ride of his life, as he is walked through his past, his present, and his future to end up a changed man.

Set in modern day Athens, this science-fiction version of the classic ghost story is guaranteed to bring shivers down your spine and a smile to your face.

Listen to more of the Cyberpunk Fairy Tales, a unique twist on the classic stories you grew up with. Sometimes they are dark and disturbing like the Grimm stories, other times they're new and relevant to the modern age.

Loved, loved, loved it!

This listen did correlate to the standard Scrooge story but I liked the few departures and updated of the retelling! It is incredibly well-narrated and a perfect family listen for the holidays.

Great modern redo

This is the third book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. This is an interesting spinoff of the classic A Christmas Carol. I liked the three taxi rides and modern twists. Very entertaining.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Steve White ). He has a variety of character voices in his repertoire- each with their own expression. He does quite well reading this book. His style did not immerse me in the book...I still realized I was being read to, yet it works for this book.

There are no explicit sex scenes, or excessive violence. There is the very occasional swearing.

The modern Scrooge...

The Impossible Quest of Hailing a Taxi on Christmas Eve by George Saoulidis and narrated by Steve White is a good retelling of the classic Scrooge tale. If you’re tired of the typical Christmas story and looking for something fresh with tech and Greek gods, give this one a listen. The narrator, Steve White, did a good job.

“No talking necessary. Scrooge loved it. But now, he had to call up a phone, wait in line, talk to an operator, like Neanderthals. The horror.”
“Money is not all there is in this life. The truly precious stuff can’t be bought.”

Not the Story you are expecting by the Title

George Saoulidis has really been turning out some impressive work lately. I loved his Too Many Friends story, and now this. I'm going to be honest. I have seen the Scrooge story told in a hundred different ways with Henry Winkler, Mr. Magoo, and Murray being just a handful of actors to take one the role. There is even a female version. Patrick Stewart generally rocks out the classic story, but even that is not something that I've enjoyed in a while. So, it is safe to say that I am a little jaded when it comes to Mr. Scrooge.

Now, George Saoulidis gives us his own retelling with the ghosts being taxi drivers, and I have to say this was a refreshing take. I enjoyed listening and would suggest that you do the same. This is a great take on a worn out story. He has breathed new life into this tale, and God Bless him for it.

Steve White does a great job narrating, he plays the ghosts wonderfully. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Great Read

The Impossible Quest of Hailing a Taxi on Christmas Eve was a great quick read by George Saoulidis. This was a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol. Scrooge is looking for a taxi on Christmas Eve but it isn’t the ride he has expected. He is taken from his past, present and future. I enjoyed this classic retelling.

Truly Refreshing Retelling!

As many of us have endured the varying tellings of the classic A Christmas Carol through our lives, this was a very refreshing retelling. A more modern take. Yes it has "Scrooge" and the ghosts and all the elements of the classic but with a modern twist. I found myself enjoying this telling as much as I have the original. If you are a Christmas Carol fan then you must check out this take on it, you won't be disappointed. The narration was very enjoyable too. Steve White did a marvelous job with the many character voices and inflicting voices with the proper emotions. A wonderful listening experience that you really should give a chance.

New perspective on Scrooge

This was an entertaining new perspective on the tale of Scrooge. It is well-written with great characters that fit the setting. Even though we all know the story, the author has done a good job of making it new and fresh.

The narrator did a great job and added a lot to my enjoyment of this story. I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook version of this book by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.
