About this listen

His work is cited by the world's best-known thought leaders, from Steve Jobs to Malcolm Gladwell. In this classic best seller - one of the most influential business books of all time - innovation expert Clayton Christensen shows how even the most outstanding companies can do everything right - yet still lose market leadership. Christensen explains why most companies miss out on new waves of innovation. No matter the industry, he says, a successful company with established products will get pushed aside unless managers know how and when to abandon traditional business practices. Offering both successes and failures from leading companies as a guide, The Innovator's Dilemma gives you a set of rules for capitalizing on the phenomenon of disruptive innovation.

speed it up

if you are already heavily involved in the tech scene, put this at 1.5x. he spends way too long explaining simple tech like why hydraulics are more reliable than cable actuated systems

Good insights, but way too long and in the weeds

Great lessons learned and wisdom, but it goes in way too much details on the historic nature of things. Summary chapter captures insights, well, you can skip ahead and only lose on the historic lectures. Had an academic tone to it, that some may like.

Slow with outdated examples

The principles are sound & still applicable. However this book takes forever to go through & and was listening to it in 1.5x speed.

The examples in this book are dated so if you didn’t grow up during the decade when these disruptive innovations happened you’ll be lost.
