About this listen

One of the biggest myths that plagues the business world today is that our ability to network depends on having the “gift-of-gab”. You don’t have to be outgoing to be successful at networking. You don’t have to become a relentless self-promoter. In fact, you don’t have to act like an extrovert at all.

The truth is that when introverts are armed with a plan that lets them be their authentic selves, they make the best networkers.

Matthew Pollard, an introvert himself, draws on over a decade of research and real-world examples to provide an actionable blueprint for introverted networking. A sequel to Pollard’s international bestseller The Introvert’s Edge: How the Quiet and Shy Can Outsell Anyone, this book masterfully confronts the stigma around the so-called extroverted arena of networking.

In The Introvert’s Edge to Networking, you’ll discover how to:

  • Overcome your fear and discomfort when networking
  • Turn networking into a repeatable system
  • Leverage your innate introverted strengths
  • Target and connect with top influencers
  • Leverage the power of virtual and social networking

The introvert’s roadmap to success doesn’t look like the extroverts, we’re different and we should embrace that.

Whether you’re a small business owner struggling to make a living or a professional who’s hit a career plateau, The Introvert’s Edge to Networking is your path to a higher income and a rolodex of powerful connections.

"Matthew's guidance takes the concept of framework and standardization to the next level, offering a meaningful strategy that works in any room, for any introverted business professional." (Dr. Ivan Misner, founder of BNI and New York Times best-selling author)

"Matthew masterfully confronts the stigma around the so-called extroverted arena of networking, demonstrating that introverts have exactly what it takes to outshine everyone else in the room." (Derek Lidow, chair of the Entrepreneurship Faculty at Princeton University)

A Sequel Worth Waiting For!

When I, by chance, encountered Matthew’s first book, “The Introvert's Edge: How the Quiet and Shy Can Outsell Anyone” in a bookstore. I was intrigued (and somewhat skeptical) by the assertion made in the title. I was curious enough, however, to thumb through the book. I placed it back on the shelf, but not for long. I couldn’t leave it. I had to buy it! It was hard to put down. I read through it twice, as it spoke to my experiences like nothing else I’d previously read. When I discovered the audio book, it became a perennial listen.
I cannot tell you how pleased I was when it was announced the there would be a sequel, devoted to the subject of networking. I immediately pre-ordered the audiobook and began the process of waiting. January 19th, at midnight marked the release of the audiobook. It was worth the wait! The “magic” and freshness of the first book was all there, but this time Mathew applied it to his approach to networking and cultivating relationships.
Now that I’ve finished the audiobook, I can say that it was more than worth the wait. This is a, worthy successor. This new title expands on what was previously taught, and takes a deep dive into the unique ways of effectively networking as an introvert. I was also pleased that it not only covers face-to-face, but also deals extensively with the online networking that most of us are now pursuing.
Highly recommended!

The best book ever

One of the best books I’ve listened to. He gives an actual plan, step by step. So many books are just about the mindset but this one gives you also practical steps to work on!!
Amazing!! Listening to it I got excited about meeting new people and trying the tactics 😀

Pretty Much Only For Sales People

The author attempted to expand his earlier book on sales to more general ground, but he didn't accomplish that. If you are a salesperson who wants to hone your network skills this might be a good book for you.

This book helped me so much!

The level of brilliance is astonishing! I'm incredibly grateful to Matthew for writing this book. I am a big fan of Matthew Pollard as a person and have benefited from his work. I first discovered his work while searching for sales books.

I’ve read so many great books but almost always walked away thinking there is no way I’m doing that. Only because the advice would not fit my personality and I felt like most tactics embodied something or someone that I am not. I found Matthew's first book and listened to it a few times through a span of a month. I took some really good notes and really started to examine my sales tactics or lack thereof.

Then one day as I’m thinking about a networking event I would be attending, I looked for books on and saw that Matthew had written another one. Sadly, I got to the part where he mentioned that I needed to do homework when it was too late. I attended the networking event and got all the pitfalls he warned about. Once I read it and went to a virtual networking event,

I knocked it out of the park. I’m so grateful for the work that Matthew does. This book is a testament to that work. While I listen, I felt like I was being coached in real-time. This book is as authentic as a writer can get about overcoming the hurdles that introverts face. If you’re an introvert, read this one And then go and read "The Introvert's Edge: How the Quiet and Shy Can Outsell Anyone. It is a must have not only for introvert but I believe an extrovert would greatly benefit from this book.

Thank you Mathew! 👊🏾👊🏾

Hit me right between the eyes

I purchased this book on sale on a whim. I didn’t bother listening to it until I was waiting at an airport on my way to an IT conference in Chicago. I didn’t get through the book until a week after the conference because I kept rewinding and taking notes. It was like this book was written for me. I plan to listen again and look for his other books. So many of the other self-help books leave me discouraged thinking I can’t do that. But this book is different and I do plan to implement his ideas.

Good for introverts but better for extroverts.

I have been a consumer advocate for s decade in DC. This audiobook made me change my focus from only consumers to include all Tavel stakeholders. I work on projects for airlines to improve customer service. And I work with consumers to let airlines, DOT, and Congress know what they see as problems.
