Publisher's summary

Killers lurk beneath the waves of the western Pacific Ocean. The USS Encinitas, the first attack submarine crewed by both men and women, stalks the Crescent Moon, a renegade Iranian sub armed with nuclear-tipped missiles. But another predator hides aboard the American sub, a murderer who has already left a trail of dead women behind on shore. While the crew of the Encinitas plays a deadly game of hide-and-seek with the Crescent Moon, NCIS Agent Linus Schag must discover the killer's identity before his - or her - blood lust leads to the submarine's total destruction.

Typical Mystery!

This is a classic mystery novel set in a submarine. It keeps you guessing about who the murderer is. The politics, action scenes and neaf misses add to the drama. The constant references to what is clearly a deep backstory were a bit confusing and seemed a bit engineered to create adversarial situations.

Overall, a solidly enjoyable listen.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.

Murder on a sub during a mission.

I am a big fan of submarine stories and murder mysteries. This one combines both, and does it pretty well. It tackles several difficult issues, such as the introduction of women aboard an attack sub, and how that affects the chemistry onboard. And the chemistry really gets strained when it is clear that a killer is stalking women on the sub.

I am one who likes to fall asleep to audiobooks, but this book was not a good candidate, because I found myself staying awake to find out what happens next. That alone deserves 4 stars.

When I chose this book, I was wondering in the back of my head whether this would have the almost cliched scene where some hero sacrifices himself or herself for the good of the sub by ending up on the wrong side of a hatch. I won't say if the scene was there or not to avoid spoilers, but something to think about when you read/listen to this.

I liked the characters in this, and I liked the back stories. I also liked the way famous past real-world investigations were worked into the story.

This story was a good listen. Recommended.

Overall a decent book

I went back and forth a few times while listening to this book and that's what I enjoy sometimes. First I was opposed to some of the plot then the author redeems himself. I was kind of a cross between Criminal Minds and NCIS ( two shows that really enjoy ) it kept me guessing to the end.

Would I recommend this to someone?
Yes.

Would I read something else from this author?
Yes.

Would I listen to something else by this narrator? He did an OK job, there were some times I wish he showed a little more emotion but yes I would try another book by him.

I received a free copy of this audio book at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Gripping thriller

I couldn't put it down. It sets off at a high speed and continues to accelerate to the final sentences.
The narration is excellent and paints pictures with his different voices and accents.
I absolutely recommend this audiobook to any one who likes a well crafted thriller.

Fast paced

It was a very fast paced story. I enjoyed plots and entire book very much! The author also should do a little more research on the facts about the battleship. It was not the Missouri and the size of the guns are the Iowa class battleships were 16 inch.

A good JAG episode!

Prepare for a fairly exciting submarine thriller. Mr. Hill mixes some thrilling modern submarine warfare with a murder mystery. This may sound like an odd combination but it does make for a compelling read. The “who done it” may keep you guessing till the very end. The characters are authentic and there’s enough background so you get a feel for them. All-in-all a quick read, a plausible plotline, and a good recommendation. Thank you for an entertaining afternoon. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Deep Water Drama

I enjoyed this high-octane novel which occurred deep within the Pacific Ocean. The setting was unusual in that it took place in a submarine. The descriptive phrases made me feel as if I was on the submarine. I was entertained by the two different cat-and-mouse scenarios taking place at the same time. This book kept me on the edge of my seat with all its twists and turns. Brian Dullaghan's narration was fine and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
