Critic reviews

"Thompson's legend as a fire-breathing, vituperative hellion had spread far and wide - due in no small part to his own self-promotion of it - but many old-time residents of the Colorado mountain town where he holed up for several decades were fiercely protective of their resident hell-raiser. That attitude is clearly represented by this book's pair of authors, an artist and a sheriff, who relate numerous tales of paranoid and wanton destruction (often involving cocaine, firearms and too many glasses of Chivas) with the same indulgence one reserves for a dangerously eccentric relative." ( Publishers Weekly)

Great

A must listen for any Hunter Thompson fan! The narrator was great although his impression of Hunter’s voice made me laugh. Very well done

A peek into HST's microcosm

Would you consider the audio edition of The Kitchen Readings: Untold Stories of Hunter S. Thompson to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the the print version. The audio version is very good despite the narrator's irritating impersonations of Hunter's lines.

What did you like best about this story?

It's fascinating how blurry can become the line between persona and the man. Hunter's brute force charisma was capable to structure a paranoid chaotic microcosm of his own into which people were willfully sucked into to become actors in a play deviously written and directed by him up to the end.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Buy the ticket. Take the ride. (What else?)
