Publisher's summary

Years ago, LAPD detective Michael Gideon and his German shepherd K-9 partner, Sirius, walked through fire to save Los Angeles from serial killer Ellis Haines, known as the Weatherman. Now, they prepare for a final showdown with their mortal foe.

It's been a year of change for Gideon and Sirius. Both are new parents, but for the two of them, the joys of fatherhood have to wait. After a few months of silence, the All-In Killer has begun his murderous spree again - and his latest victim died only miles from Gideon's doorstep. The All-In Killer has made it no secret that his homicidal countdown will end only with the deaths of Gideon and Sirius. When Gideon decides he can no longer hide the encroaching threat from his wife, they prepare together for the approaching storm.

While Gideon chases down a new lead that might prove his suspicion that the All-In Killer has been communicating with Ellis Haines, an ecoterrorist bomber strikes California, and a recently retired deputy US marshal and her bomb-sniffing dog go missing. Gideon and Sirius join in that manhunt, doing what they do best - saving lives.

I love this series!

I loved every book in this series and highly recommend! The narrator was great - not over the top silly like some. And who doesn’t love a strong dog partner in a story! 🙂 This is a series I would listen to over and over again!

Pinnacle of entertainment

This is the best book the author has put out. It was taught, suspenseful, and loving. What a perfect wrap up for this series!

The last good dog — the last great book?

As someone who has read all of the Gideon and Sirius books, I started this one with some trepidation — how, if at all, were the multiple plot threads going to be resolved? The only thing disappointing about this book is that it ended too quickly. I was hooked from the first chapter and the book just kept getting better and better. And a stellar reader performance to boot! Is this the final book in the Gideon and Sirius series? You’ll just have to read it and find out.

Great read, highly recommend

Alan Russell is a master story teller.
Jeff Commings is brilliant.
Highly recommend this audio and book.

This story takes us through another adventure with LAPD Detective Michael Gideon and his German shepherd K-9 partner, Sirius. I believe this is the conclusion of this series which for me is very sad for me as this series has been in my opinion one of the best ever written. And you always hate seeing great things end. I've come quite connected to these characters. The story concludes the walk through fire with the serial killer Ellis Haines, final showdown, and its a great one. A wonderful fun page turner with our favorite cast of characters with some new ones as well, Gigi Gideon's baby daughter and some new dogs. In summary, another excellent book in this superb series.

Never Fails Me

Alan Russell is a fantastic story teller! He brings authenticity to police work and to their canine partners. His love of dogs is what keeps me coming back to this series. I hope there is another one coming!

I hope this isn’t the end...

I only write reviews for about 1/3 of the books I listen to. Because I’ve written a review for for most of the books in this series I wasn’t going to write one for this book. Then I saw someone left a 1 star rating! This is easily a five star book. If you haven’t listened to this series I strongly suggest listening in order for the most enjoyment.
This is a very entertaining procedural that revolves around a detective and his dog. Both previously injured in a horrible fire while apprehending a serial killer. Their bond is very touching.
Jeff Cummings does a fabulous job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Thank You.

I just wanted to add I know this is a series that Wayne (Matthews, NC) follows. He usually leaves reviews also. I had been hoping to see one by him but he hasn’t written a review in about a month. I hope all is well with him and I look forward to seeing you review books again soon.

AT LAST!

A fun mystery WITHOUT the F- word, graphic sex or gore. I will definitely be listening to more books by Alan Russell and performed by Jeff Cummings.
